I thought I would participate in another Freshly Made Sketches card challenge! I hope I make the deadline so here it goes! Since the holidays ARE coming, I’m using Lots of Joy Stamp Set (AC p.69 WM #138810 or CM #139468) along with Merry Moments DSP (#138450). My design totally didn’t turn out the way I had planned but that’s okay! Sometimes that happens. Although my original design didn’t work out, I’m pretty happy with my end result! I used Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow for my inking. I stepped it up with Cherry Cobbler Candy Dots (#130932). My CS choices are Crumb Cake and Old Olive. I hope you like my SWEET CREATION!

I entered a card layout challenge last week when I saw this sketch. It had been a LONG time since I had participated in a card challenge (like I’ve done a marathon of them)! All of my SU products I used for my card were retired BUT you can use this layout, as I have, as an inspiration to utilize what you have in your craft room! It’s really so much fun to produce your own card when you have a layout such as this one. I love how this turned out! I also got creative with the ribbon hanging from behind the button and managed to add a third streamer to it! SWEET! I just had a random thought, this embellishment reminds me of those great big football mums that are popular during football homecoming games for the girls! It makes me homesick for Friday Night Football games in Texas! Like I said, a random thought!

I loved the layout and DSP (Designer Series Paper) so much that I had to make a few more and then I ran out of buttons! So I pulled out my Pansy Punch (#130698) and some Pearls (#119247), which are NOT retired, and changed it up a bit! In hindsight, perhaps I should have changed out the polka dot ribbon banner with a coordinating green card stock (CS) banner in it’s place! Oh well! I still love it!
Tips for Mailing Card with Embellishments:
- When mailing a card that has certain embellishments, I like to add a layer of cut computer paper (4 x 5 1/4) in front of the card face to protect it inside the envelope.
- When mailing a card that has a bulky embellishment(s) i.e. large buttons, mail it as NON-MACHINABLE! Postage is just slightly higher. I still add a layer of paper to protect the card front inside the envelope.
- I have also mailed cards in padded mailing envelopes (which SU retired ours) that had really bulky embellishments. It does cost more but so worth it to protect your card.
We all start somewhere and for me, it began back in June of 2008! I attended my very first Card Club and made this card! Isn’t it SWEET!! I had NO IDEA what in the heck I was doing as everyone around me was producing their cards in a very timely manner! But not me! That’s okay though as I managed with the help of others around me. That’s one thing I love about crafters, they are so enthusiastic about inking, stamping, and crafting; they love to share it with others!
I was first introduced to Stampin’ Up! that night! I had NEVER heard of Stampin’ Up! (SU) before that night! My husband and I just moved from my home state of Texas to his home state of Illinois on May 12, 2008. Yes, I remember the date! LOL! I always knew one day I’d end up in Illinois when we got older. We lived our first 22 years married in Texas and I suppose we’ll finish our days out in Illinois. One never knows though!! It was difficult leaving my home state of Texas, my family, friends, and relatives all behind! But when I attended my first Stampin’ Up! Card Club as a guest with one of my husband’s relatives, I was HOOKED! I loved inking, stamping, and creating cards not to mention meeting a wonderful group of ladies! I so looked forward to that SU Card Club each and every month. I finally signed up as a SU Demonstrator in March, 2011. I hate to admit that I am my own best customer! LOL!
