Heartfelt Sunflower Sympathy & PCC396

It’s always hard to think about having to make a sympathy card when there has been a loss in ones family. My husband’s aunt recently lost her husband this past week. I believe they’ve been married over 50 years (if my memory serves me right). I had a card already picked out to send that I had made from a Paper Pumpkin Kit, which is a paper craft subscription offered through Stampin’ Up!. I’ll actually be sending that card to my husband’s aunt’s daughter-in-law who just lost her mother two days prior from the COVID-19 virus. You know the saying, “When it rains, it pours!” My heart just breaks for this family!

When making this card, I decided to use a card layout provided by the Paper Craft Crew over at www.papercraftcrew.com. I wasn’t going to participate in this challenge but I decided at the last minute to go ahead and do this post today. I made my card yesterday but I just didn’t have time to get my post done and schedule it to publish over night. So here I am today. Here is the layout called Vertical Sketch Challenge #PCC396:

CARD MAKING DETAILS

  • Stamp Sets: Lovely You & Celebrate sSunflower Cling Stamp Sets
  • Cardstock:
    • Base – Misty Moonlight 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″; Scored at 4-1/4″
    • Front Panel – Whisper White 4″ x 5-1/4″; Embossed
    • 2 Panels 6″ x 6″ DSP Flowers For Every Season – 3″ x 4-1/4″ each
    • WW (2″ x 5/8″) & Misty Moonlight (2-5/8″ x 3/4″) for punch/die pieces
  • See Product Table for other items used

I stamped the smaller sunflower twice with my Bumblebee ink pad using the Stamparatus. Before stamping it for the second time for another flower, I wiped the leaves off and used Just Jade Stampin’ Write Marker on the leaves and stamped it once more. I ended up using the Bermuda Bay LT to then color the leaves in which really blended well with the DSP leaves.

I used Bumblebee Stampin’ Write Marker to add color to the flowers in the outer center of the flowers. Then I used the Daffodil Delight DK/LT Stampin’ Blends on out from there to add more color to the flowers. I replicated the center of the sunflowers from the DSP by using the Bronze and Ivory Stampin’ Blends.

For the label, cut 2-5/8” x ¾” Misty Moonlight then add your WW label, which is 2” x 5/8”. Stamp the sentiment using Misty Moonlight ink pad. I actually stamped the sentiment before cutting. I then popped it up with three Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  TIP: I cut another WW label to adhere another layer to the back of the sentiment label to add a bit more depth.

Cat & Sunflower Sympathy & #FF0069

It’s always so very sad when one loses their Fur Baby! For most of us, our Fur Babies are more than just a pet as they are an actual part of our families. In other words, if you are like me . . . your Fur Baby is actually a family member. I have two feline Fur Babies, Sweet Pea and Sky. More to come on my Fur Babies later in this post! Let’s get back to my card first.

I recently became aware of the fact that the “office cat” at The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri’s in house “Queen of the Desk”, named Penny, passed away. Penny was about 8 years old when she came to their shelter and it was decided to keep her as part of their in-house business/family pet. Penny passed away at the age of 16 years old. Any time a Fur Baby passes, the loss is truly with a heavy heart. When I delivered my handmade “heartfelt” card, I also made a donation in Penny’s Memory. The caring people who work at the Humane Society do so much in taking care of these pets until they find their LUVING FUREVER HOMES, it was the least I could do to let them know I shared in their sorrow.

What do you think about my card design? It’s a bit different but all in all, I think I liked how it turned out. All the items used, except for the Gold Faceted Gem in the Sunflower, are current in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. You could use the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots (large) in place of the Gold Faceted Gem.

Since I’ve started back to blogging, I’m going to participate in card challenges once again. Festive Friday Challenge (#festivefridaychallenge) is one that I had just starting participating in when it first started up back in 2018 then I had a major surgery and let’s just say life got in my way. This current challenge is called National Cat Day Challenge: #FF0069. Be sure to head over to Festive Friday to check out all the great cards submitted by others. My three picks from the Inspo List includes: cats, sparkle, clean and simple. I don’t think my “heartfelt” sentiment falls under pet sentiment but the Gold Faceted Gem does have sparkle!

CARD MAKING DETAILS

  • Stamp Sets: Lovely You & Celebrate Sunflowers Cling Stamp Sets
  • Cardstock: Base – WhisperWhite (WW) 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”; Scored at 4-1/4”
    • Front Panel – 6” x 6” DSP In Color 2020-2022 – 4” x 5-1/4”
    • Second Panel – Whisper White 3-5/8” x 4-7/8”
    • WW & Just Jade & Cinnamon Cider for punch/die cuts pieces
  • Ink Pads:  Cinnamon Cider & BumbleBee (In Color 2020-2022)
  • Stampin’ Write Markers: Cinnamon Cider, BumbleBee
  • Accessories:  Metallic Pearls (Gold), ¼” Gingham Ribbon Bumble Bee, Gold Faceted Gems (retired) so substitute Gold Glitter Enamel Dots
  • Tools: Sunflower Dies, Cat Punch, Adhesives – Stampin’ Seal/Tombow Glue/Mini Glue Dots, Bone Folder, Stampin’ Trimmer, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

You can pretty well tell by the image of my card where to place what in my layout. Notice I made the cat collar from the Gingham ribbon. I folded it and then used mini glue dots to hold the ribbon in place on the backside then I added the Gold Metallic Pearls. You don’t have to use Stampin’ Write Markers but I did just to add some extra color to the sunflower. I didn’t have Stampin’ Blends or I would’ve used those to add some depth to the sunflower.

Now about my two cats, Sweet Pea and Sky! Sweet Pea turned 15 years old this past August. She adopted me when she was about 6 months old. She is a Manx and doesn’t have a tale. She is a one person cat and no one ever sees her as she hides when people enters into our home. I adopted Sky at 3 weeks old after my beautiful mother passed from Ovarian Cancer back on Christmas Eve of 2014. After I came back home from being gone for nearly 5 months, I guess that I needed something else to take care of at that time and/or to fill a HUGE hole in my heart. Sky is my spoiled bottle fed big boy of a male cat and is now 5 1/2 years old. Sky came from Skyview Animal Clinic over in Cape Girardeau, MO. I took Sweet Pea in for her annual checkup and shots and came out with an extra Fur Baby. Needless to say, my hubby was not a happy camper! LOL! Sweet Pea wasn’t too sure about it either but Sky has been a welcomed addition to our lives.

Snow Front Masculine Birthday Card & CTS #392

I don’t know why I struggle creating masculine cards, but I do! When I saw the sketch layout over at casethissketch.blogspot.com, I knew I wanted to give this sketch a try. I needed to make a birthday card for my youngest brother who is 11 years younger than myself. He is into hunting so I knew just which stamp set I was going to use, SNOW FRONT. By the way, I have three brothers. I have a twin brother, Tony, then the middle brother, Markus, who is a year younger than the two of us. I always wanted a sister but when Waylon came along, it just really didn’t matter as soon as I saw his little face.

Well back to my card . . . here is the layout sketch for CTS #392. I’ve recently just got back to blogging. When I create a card, I like to have a layout to create by because that really helps me get going, if you know what I mean! I’ve never participated at CAS(E) this Sketch! so this will be my first time.

I will say that with this particular stamp set, you don’t necessarily get a solid stamped image. You’ll see what I mean if you look at the stamp set in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog (AC) or click on the product below. No matter how hard I tried to get my deer on the right to have a more solid stamped image, it just wasn’t going to happen. That’s okay, I still like my end result. And as always, my pictures never do my cards true justice as I’m not that good of a photographer.

CARD MAKING DETAILS

  • Card base is 2020-2022 In Color Just Jade 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″; scored at 4-1/4″
  • First panel is Whisper White 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Second panel is In Color 2020-2022 Designer Series Paper Just Jade 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • Using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, create the Early Espresso panel and the Whisper White panel that has the stamped images. There is a trick to make the panels LONGER than the actual die. See the tips below! Notice that I don’t have the stitched look on the ends of the panels. After die cutting the measurements will be as follows: Early Espresso 3-7/8″ x 2-3/16″ and Whisper White 3-7/8″ x 2-5/16″
  • The Happy Birthday sentiment is from a retired stamp set, Tin of Cards, but there are other sentiments that you could use in its place. Have fun looking at all the different sentiments that Stampin’ Up! has to offer!
  • Classic Stampin’ Pads: Early Espresso, Just Jade, Misty Moonlight
  • Embellishment: 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots
  • I used the Stamparatus to stamp the images or you can use the suggested clear blocks; B, C, D, E on page 163 in the 2020-2021 AC.

HELPFUL TIPS

  • There is a trick to make the panels LONGER than the actual die. DO NOT run the entire die through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine as to not cut off the end on one side. You can then just trim off one side.
  • Lift the die up then align it with the “notches” or “grooves” and continue on to make it longer so that it’ll fit across the card.
  • BTW, the die will just naturally sit back into the “notches” or “grooves” of the cardstock that has already been through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

Thanks Kindly & Festive Friday Challenge #FF0004

#soinkingsweet, #handmade, #thesweetinker, #tonyadenton, #handstampedcard, #thankskindly, #festivefridaychallenge

I hope you love my card as much as I do! I knew I wanted choose ‘flowers’ for this Festive Friday Challenge but other than that, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I think the best thing to do is just to start with one or two things in mind and work my way from there when creating a card. I knew I needed a ‘Thank You’ sentiment and I knew I wanted to create a Daisy flower. I fell in love with the Delightful Daisy DSP and knew I had to have it along with the Daisy Delight Stamp Set and the Daisy Punch! Don’t you just LOVE these items?! If you do, make sure you order all three before the new Annual Catalog comes out at the beginning of June! I hope the stamp set and punch carries over into the new catalog but just in case, don’t miss out on these items if you think you may want them.

The “Thanks kindly” sentiment is from the One Big Meaning Stamp Set. It has seven different ‘Thank You’ sentiments, which is great! I also used the Petal Garden DSP Stack which is AWESOME! I absolutely love, love, love all the floral patterns in that 6 x 6 stack of papers. I actually used the backside one to get that little tid bit of stitched look peeping out from under the Delightful Daisy DSP. Can you see it?! Perhaps you will in the next close up image of the Daisy flower.

#soinkingsweet, #handmade, #thesweetinker, #tonyadenton, #handstampedcard, #thankskindly, #festivefridaychallenge, #daisydelight, #daisypunch

What really makes this Daisy flower come alive is the fact I used Stampin’ Up!’s NEW Stampin’ Blends! They are premier alcohol markers with dual-tips. Right now there are 12 exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors, each with a light and a dark shade as well as ivory, bronze, and a color lifter. LOVE ‘EM! I stamped the flower twice with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad so I could punch out two flowers. Then I colored my flowers in with the light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blend. I went back over the inside of the petal leaves with the light Calypso Coral to give my petals a bit more depth. Then to top it off, I added that BEAUTIFUL Gold Faceted Gem in the center to really add beauty to my flower. Did I already tell you how much I LOVED my card?!

Stampin’ Up! News:
BTW the new Stampin’ Up! Stampin Blends have been so popular (debuted in the Occasion Catalog), that Stampin’ Up! had a difficult time maintaining an adequate supple of them due to some unexpected challenges from the supplier’s end. Instead of continually having them on backorder, Stampin’ Up! made a difficult decision to make our entire Stampin’ Blends product line unorderable at this time until approximately the end of May.
Please leave me a comment and tell me what you love best about my card. What product(s) do you love most? If you have any questions, please contact me! Until next time, have a Beautiful & Blessed Day!

It’s a Panda Easter & Festive Friday Challenge #FF0003!

It's a Panda Easter, Party Pandas, #soinkingsweet, #thesweetinker, #tonyadenton, hand stamped card, Happy Easter

Easter is just around the corner so I needed to create a cute card for my granddaughter, Theä. She is four years old and loves receiving cards from her Grammie, which is me! I created a unique Easter card using the Panda Party Stamp Set from our Sale-A-Bration brochure. I knew what I had in mind with the Easter Egg in place of the balloon but I struggled with the rest. It takes me a while to create from my own imagination but that’s okay. I always like a challenge.

UPDATE!! I was chosen as one of three Festive Friday Faves in #FF0003 challenge!! WooHoo!!

#soinkingsweet, #thesweetinker, #handstamped, #festivefridaychallenge, #festivefridayfaves, #ff0003

Speaking of a challenge, check out Festive Friday Challenge to see not only my card but other cards as well! It’s a new challenge site for card makers such as myself. This Festive Friday Challenge is . . .

You too can make this card! I used the following: (Use retired stamp set Basket Bunch #143186 for the egg.)

Heartfelt Sympathy & Festive Friday #FF0002

No one ever really enjoys having to make one of these types of cards but one must when it’s needed. This will be a quick post and I know, it’s been a LONG TIME since I’ve posted anything here on my blog. I’m here now and ready to share a lovely card using the Sale-A-Bration Heartfelt Blooms Stamp Set. I hate to admit that I struggled at first because it’s been such long time since I’ve made a card(s) that I wasn’t sure how to go about what I had in my mind. Then a light bulb went off and I grabbed my ink daubers. That is how I managed to get the Crumb Cake and Night of Navy colors in my floral image. I also layered the 1/2″ Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon on top of the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon for a layered and flat look. The top layer that I stamped the floral image onto is from Stampin’ Up!’s Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. I totally love that stack of woodsy papers!

In addition to needing to make a sympathy card, I’m participating in a NEW card challenge called Festive Friday Challenge. Be sure to check it out and join in by participating!

Something Old, Something New Just 4 You!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! This is one of the cards I created to send to someone special! I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do but I knew I had to use the ANY OCCASION Stamp Set #143348 (SAB pg. 14) from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure! You, too, can get this stamp set FREE with a $50 product purchase (before taxes & shipping).

FYI, you can order from the Annual Catalog, Occasions Catalog, and even the Clearance Rack to be able to earn FREE items from the SAB Brochure! February Hostess Code R3G9W2V2

I used the retired Framelits called Hearts Collection for  my two hearts. There is a stamp in this set that has the curved line but it wasn’t long enough so I used the top of a plastic round container to draw the line so it would fit from one side to the other in the heart. I used the retired embossing folder Adorning Accents at the bottom. I love those little hearts! I also used the retired stamp set P.S. I Love You for my sentiments. I love that set!

BTW, you can use the NEW Sweet & Sassy Framelits #141707 (AC pg.193) that has MANY hearts to do this same card! AND you can use the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #137364 (AC pg. 195) to have hearts embossed that will cover the entire card front! Also be sure to check out the Blooming’ Love Stamp Set #140643 (AC pg. 46) and Sealed with Love #142815 (OC pg. 15). Both of these stamp sets have sentiments that would work great with this layout! I included these new/current items in my Supply List below!

I’m HAPPY to say I actually entered into two card challenges today! Check these sites out for GREAT inspiration not to mention the many TALENTED Design Team Members!

the Paper Players

SU! Only Challenges

Here is my first Valentine’s Card I made using Real Red card base. Then I decided to use Whisper White for my card base. I actually love both cards! I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the heart up on both cards. I also use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp my sentiments. When using Wood Mount or Clear Mount, I recommend using this hand dandy tool! It’s a life saver and ensures I stamp sentiments exactly where they need to be placed on my card. Nothing worse than messing up and having to start over!

Happy Birthday Travis & PP308 Color Challenge

2016.8.18 Stars Happy Bday

Happy birthday to my nephew, Travis! He is just one of three sons to my twin brother, Tony. Yes, I have a twin brother! It’s back to school on Monday for Travis so I LOVE these bright, cheery “Back to School” colors in The Paper Players Color Challenge! Check out the other great cards by the Design Team and other participates!

2016.8.18_pp308

After I had made Travis’ card, I made another one but I didn’t use the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder. It’s very CAS (Clean and Simple). It just shows you how you can step up a card by adding something as simple as some textured embossing!

A Banners Birthday~The Paper Players #306/SUO Challenge #154

I created a birthday card for a card challenge which is a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge. I decided on the challenge using enamel dots, patterned paper, and die cut. Well . . . I didn’t have the right enamel dots so I substituted some gold sequins from my Paper Pumpkin Kit from June. I also entered my card in the SU-Only Challenge #154 – Delightful Dies challenge (I love that they ONLY allow Stampin’ Up! products!) I was able to use my new Bunch of Banners Framelits that just arrived yesterday! Love it! I went with Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake as I love that combination as the Mint Macaron just POPS against the Crumb Cake! My picture doesn’t do it justice but I hope you like it! (Just added a better photo!)

“Wild Animal” Theme at the Paper Players Card Challenge #PP295!

Deer are WILD animals! I couldn’t resist this challenge. I used a RETIRED stamp set, Remembering Christmas from the 2014 Holiday Catalog! I love this stamp! We live on 100+ acres bumped up to the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. My huge expansion of a front yard serves as a refuge for the deer as I have a “No Porch Shooting” policy! I love watching them feel at home and safe especially when they have little ones! Several years ago you could see nearly a dozen bucks from upstairs off to one side of our place bedded down. I had never seen that many bucks together! It was really special. I hope you like my card!

2016.5.20 Remembering Christmas Card

The Paper Players Clean-and-Simple Challenge #295

2016.5.20_pp295

If you REALLY like this stamp perhaps you might find one on eBay or I could search for one on your behalf. It’s called Remembering Christmas – Wood Mount #131760 &  Clear Mount #131763 – It has a sentiment that says “Remembering you at Christmas and wishing you the best in the new year” to be stamped on the inside and a sentiment “Warm Wishes” for the front of the card. Both are in a beautiful cursive font. I just found this image to share with you!

2016.5.20 Remembering Christmas Stamp Set

I used the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set to make the color. I did some tracing to fussy cut and fit it around the neck. I LOVE the way it turned out! The sweet little Merry Christmas sentiment is from The Petite Pairs Stamp Set which will NO LONGER be available when the NEW CATALOG goes live on June 1st! I truly love this stamp set and I hate to see it go!
