Shimmering Dragonflies

Dragonflies have always been fun to watch. Some are more beautiful than others but nonetheless, they remind me of simpler times. Growing up and even as an adult, I have spent a LOT of time camping, boating, and waterskiing. Dragonflies were always part of the experience. Even at times while mowing in the summertime, there will be swarms of them following me. I’ve never been afraid of them but there are other winged things that I definitely don’t want in my personal space! LOL!

I LOVE the Dragonfly Garden Bundle which is what I used to create today’s card. The bundle consist of the Dragonfly Garden Cling Stamp Set and the Dragonflies Punch, which has BOTH a large and small dragonfly! Did you know that when you bundle, you save 10% off the price? I also used the Dandy Garden 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This paper pack has some really pretty prints to use for this time of the year! Click HERE to see each of the 12 double-sided designs, which includes 4 each in the pack for a total of 48 sheets.

I used the one sheet with the white background with the various sizes of pretty colored dragonflies (top row, fourth from the right end) for my dragonflies. I used the larger Dragonfly on the punch and punched out my dragonflies, which I then added Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to the wings to make them sparkle. I decided to add just a bit to the dragonfly’s body as well. I totally love that glitter brush! I just love how each dragonfly shimmers in the light!

I struggled with how I was going to do my layout but I decided on using a strip from the sheet that has the green vegetation and dragonflies (bottom row, third from the left). I decided on the Mossy Meadow, Calypso Coral, and Blackberry Bliss Dragonflies to pop on top of the three rectangle shaped pieces which coordinates with the Dragonflies as well. Those prints are part of Dandy Garden 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper as well! I normally add any little trinkets but I couldn’t resist those little LadyBug Trinkets! They are SO CUTE!

I had two card challenges that inspired my card and I love how it turned out! After completing my card, I realized that I was missing an item! Let me just say that I’m going for the POLKA DOTS on the Lady Bugs at this point! TeeHee! This first challenge is with Festive Friday Challenge #FF0079 which you pick three items from the INSPO LIST. I chose INSECTS, GREEN & POLKA DOTS! Please visit their site to see many creative cards being made from the INSPO LIST below!

The other challenge is with Stampin’ Up! Only Challenges SUOC#270. Their challenge is called Sky High Theme: Anything That Flies. Visit their site to see more flying themed cards!

Sweet Valentine & Tasteful Touches!

Don’t you just LOVE my card?! I know my SWEET HUBBY will love it! Slim Line cards are all the rage these days so I jumped onto that band wagon! This is my very first Slim Line card and I’m sure it won’t be my last. I am tickled PETAL PINK how my card turned out! LOL! When I brainstorm a card design, I pick out a few things I know that I want to use. In this case it was the heart and the “Love you” stamp from the January 2021 Sending Hearts Paper Pumpkin Kit plus the left over heart embellishments. Do you see them inside the heart?

I used my last large heart embellishment under the sentiment, which is from the Tasteful Touches Cling Stamp Set. I LOVE the coordinating Tasteful Labels Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Dies. You can buy the stamp set and dies separately or buy them as a bundle and SAVE 10%.

I also knew that I wanted to use Poppy Parade and Petal Pink. January 2021 Sending Hearts Paper Pumpkin Kit included a Poppy Parade Stampin’ Spot and Petal Pink was one of the coordinating colors in the kit. I used the heart stamp for the focal image and to also create my own DSP (Designer Series Paper), which is so simple to do. I just stamped onto Petal Pink cardstock using the heart stamp. My card base is Poppy Parade. By the way, what do you think about how I did the ribbon? I struggled on how I was going to utilize ribbon as I don’t have a lot of current ribbon on hand. The only current white ribbon I have is Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon so that is what I used on my card. Then I had to figure out how I wanted to do the ribbon. I came up with loops! What do you think?!

Taking pictures of my cards are a real struggle as I fight for natural light! There are no windows in my Hobby Nook. Our home has a lot of windows but we sit at a diagonal of the sunrise and sunset.

I used a sentiment from Daisy Lane Cling Stamp Set on my inside panel. By the way, you can use other stamps such as the Always In My Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set for the focal heart image. You can see it in the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog #154337 page 12 $18.00. Check it out! You can download the catalog from the right side of my blog! Purchase $75 in product (before shipping/taxes) before the end of March and you’ll receive the NEW 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. Our current annual catalog ends May 3, 2021.

  • Poppy Parade Base 7-1/2″ x 9″ | Score at 3-3/4″
  • Basic White Panel 5″ x 3-3/4″
  • Petal Pink Panel 1″ x 3-3/4″
  • Basic White Inside Panel 8-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
  • Heart images stamped in Petal Pink
  • Sentiments stamped in Poppy Parade | Use Clear Blocks or Stamparatus for stamping.
  • Add Embellishments
  • Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon | 4-3/4″ strip dove tailed & enough to create 6 continuous loops. Tip: I just used a long strip of scotch tape to secure the loops on back of label. The I added the strip to go straight across.
  • Pop up main sentiment die cut label with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Add panels using Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue. It’s more forgiving to situate the panels into place on the card base.
  • I would love to know what you think about my Slim Line card! Please leave me a comment!

Simple & Stepped Up Snow Front Cards!

I LOVE to make SIMPLE cards that have just a bit of WOW to them! I believe that anyone can create a card. If you are a beginner, you could definitely create this card. This is a super EASY card that even you can do! Using the Stamparatus tool truly makes projects like this go much quicker with precision stamping but you can also just use the Acrylic Clear Blocks.

Evidently I mailed my stepped up card that I used Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush to my dad without getting a picture of it before doing so! I don’t have time to replicate it at this point but you’ll see it in my video. The difference between these two cards, other than using 3 different colors, is that I added a coordinating card base to match the pond (or lake). It’s still a simple card with just a bit more appeal.

I’m still VERY NEW to doing videos so please bear with me when you are watching! After I’ve done a video and watch the replay, I am my own worse critic!

  • Stamp Sets: Snow Front Photopolymer Stamp Set & Celebrate Sunflowers Cling Stamp Set
  • Cardstock:
    • Whisper White Thick 8-1/2” X 5-1/2” Base – Scored at 4-1/4” (NOW BASIC WHITE! SEE INFORMATION AT BOTTOM OF POST!)
  • Ink Pads:
    • Misty Moonlight – Pond (or Lake)
    • Gray Granite – Upper Mountains
    • Early Espresso – Deer
    • Soft Suede – Sentiment for outside/inside
    • Crumb Cake – Lower Mountains
    • Shaded Spruce – Trees
    • Cherry Cobbler – Little Bird
  • Tools: Stamparatus (or use Acrylic Clear Blocks), Bone Folder, Stampin’ Trimmer, Simply Shammy

For the stepped up version(s), I added a coordinating cardstock for the base that matches the pond. I then decided to use Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush to add some glitter to the mountain for a snow effect. I also switched out the Misty Moonlight, Shaded Spruce, and Cherry Cobbler to Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow, and Merry Merlot. With doing that you might as well add on Sahara Sand, Smoky Slate, and Basic Gray and buy the Neutrals Classic Stampin’ Pad Bundle!

Just a Note: You can use regular Basic White Cardstock verses Thick when just doing a front panel on a colored cardstock base.

Click on the product(s) below for details and shop my online store!

OOPS! If you do the stepped up version then you’ll need an adhesive to adhere your front panel to your card base. Stampin’ Seal #152813 or TomBow Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue #110755. The TomBow glue is more forgiving which allows you to position certain items a bit easier into place. Either one will work great though!

Something Old, Something New Just 4 You!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! This is one of the cards I created to send to someone special! I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do but I knew I had to use the ANY OCCASION Stamp Set #143348 (SAB pg. 14) from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure! You, too, can get this stamp set FREE with a $50 product purchase (before taxes & shipping).

FYI, you can order from the Annual Catalog, Occasions Catalog, and even the Clearance Rack to be able to earn FREE items from the SAB Brochure! February Hostess Code R3G9W2V2

I used the retired Framelits called Hearts Collection for  my two hearts. There is a stamp in this set that has the curved line but it wasn’t long enough so I used the top of a plastic round container to draw the line so it would fit from one side to the other in the heart. I used the retired embossing folder Adorning Accents at the bottom. I love those little hearts! I also used the retired stamp set P.S. I Love You for my sentiments. I love that set!

BTW, you can use the NEW Sweet & Sassy Framelits #141707 (AC pg.193) that has MANY hearts to do this same card! AND you can use the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #137364 (AC pg. 195) to have hearts embossed that will cover the entire card front! Also be sure to check out the Blooming’ Love Stamp Set #140643 (AC pg. 46) and Sealed with Love #142815 (OC pg. 15). Both of these stamp sets have sentiments that would work great with this layout! I included these new/current items in my Supply List below!

I’m HAPPY to say I actually entered into two card challenges today! Check these sites out for GREAT inspiration not to mention the many TALENTED Design Team Members!

the Paper Players

SU! Only Challenges

Here is my first Valentine’s Card I made using Real Red card base. Then I decided to use Whisper White for my card base. I actually love both cards! I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the heart up on both cards. I also use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp my sentiments. When using Wood Mount or Clear Mount, I recommend using this hand dandy tool! It’s a life saver and ensures I stamp sentiments exactly where they need to be placed on my card. Nothing worse than messing up and having to start over!

Happy 30th Anniversary Card with FMS #234!

WOW! My Sweetheart and I have been married 30 YEARS TODAY! The odds were against us since we only knew each other for three weeks before getting married. I even turned him down the first time he asked me out! We met each other at a mutual friend’s apartment in our apartment complex in Houston, Bear Creek actually. It was a whirlwind after I finally said yes to having dinner with him! I don’t recommend getting married that quickly to someone but it has worked for us . . . and the rest is history! My Sweetheart is my best friend, my partner in life, the love of my life! I’d be lost without him!

Well on to my card, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to make a 30th Wedding Anniversary card. I did know my card needed to have the color green and pearls which signifies a 30th Wedding Anniversary. I really wanted to have some silver and the digits “30” on it but that didn’t happen. Sometimes I struggle when it comes to making cards and that is where layout sketches can really help! I loved this week’s sketch by Jen Timko over at Freshly Made Sketches! Here is my card . . .

Freshly Made Sketches layout by Jen Timko . . .

2016.4.29_FMS 234

Be sure to visit Freshly Made Sketches to check out all the wonderful cards! I don’t always participate with each new weekly layout sketch but it’s one of my FAVORITE card challenge sites! I really appreciate all those involved in providing us with such a great card challenge site! Thank you!

On another personal note I have to share what my Sweetheart bought me for our 30th Wedding Anniversary! HE DID GOOD!! I LOVE Pandora Charms and look what he gave me to add to my collection! Squueeeel! Love ’em! Love him!

I thought it would be fun to share two photos! This is us at the courthouse with 12 1/2 (baby involved) friends in attendance! I was 25 and he was 24 at the time. It was such a fun, happy day for us because we were crazy in love!

2016.4.29_Our_Wedding_JP Office2016.4.29_Wedding_PicI hope you enjoyed hearing about how I’ve been married to my Sweetheart for 30 years! We have one beautiful daughter, Tenaya, that is a blessing from God! I was told I wouldn’t be able to have children. She is now married with her own little blessing, Theä Sage who is 2 yrs old. We are so very blessed!

Supply List

  • Mossy Meadow card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″
  • Whisper White panel: 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″
  • English Garden DSP panel: 4-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ & 1/2″ x 3-3/4″ (striped section)
  • Mossy Meadow sentiment label: 2-3/4″ x 7/8″
  • Whisper White sentiment label: 2-1/2″ x 1/2″

Sometimes I don’t add certain things to my supply list because it’s just a given that I use certain products when I create a card. I can’t tell you how much I LOVE my Stampin’ Trimmer! I had a different brand for many years and continued using it even after it had broken while awaiting the release Stampin’ Up!’s new Stampin’ Trimmer. I’ve been using this since it was available  . . . perhaps two years ago or so now. You can’t go wrong with this trimmer!

If you haven’t use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, you are totally missing out! I attended a card club for a couple of years and NEVER was exposed to this product! This product should’ve been introduced from the get go as many of us would voice our disappointment when we would stamp our sentiment and it would be crooked! This is back when SU only offered Wood Mount stamp sets. I LOVE my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig!

If you have any questions or need help with anything, please feel free to contact me! Have a Beautiful & Blessed Day!

Thinking of You with the Kind Koala Stamp Set – Retiring!

It is always sad when the Retiring List comes out! This little cute Koala Bear made the list, so sad! I thought I had better get this stamp out and use it so you can see just how CUTE it is! I made the first card using Crushed Curry and place a Large Basic Pearl (embellishment retired) on the flower. You can use the current Pearl Basic Jewels as well (see below). I had to make some more cards because this one turned out so CUTE (in my opinion)! BTW, the Banner Punch made the Retiring List as well! I LOVE that little punch! Don’t you?!

TIP: Stamp the Koala on both Whisper White cardstock and Crumb Cake. I also stamped the flower part on Crushed Curry. Using my Paper Snips, I did some “fussy cutting”! Before adhering this cute little Koala and flower onto the Whisper White cardstock, trace over the flower pole (line) with Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.

NOTE: It’s not listed in the supplies (you can’t buy it separately) but I used Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker to trace over the line since it was in yellow. You can buy the set of Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers which has all the neutrals color collection except for Very Vanilla and Whisper White.

Check out my other cards! This one with the Crushed Curry circle in the middle of the flower has the little pearls clustered in threes. I used the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker to color those BUT you don’t have to do that, you can leave them white if you want to! I used the Owl Builder Punch, which also made the Retiring List, for the little circle in the flower. I’m going to be in mourning over these retiring items!

My next two cards I used Pumpkin Pie and Elegant Eggplant. I didn’t do anything fancy but I did “fussy cut” the Koala Bear. I truly love doing simple cards but you can see how you can “step up” a card just by doing something extra, even if it’s just one thing! Example, the little banners! Don’t you just love those?! I do! I will still be using my Banner Punch in the future! I still in shock it’s RETIRING!

Here are my supplies:

Price: $110.00

If you love these cards and would like measurements for the different layers, please email me! I will be happy to email them to you! If you have any questions or need help with anything, please feel free to contact me! Have a Beautiful & Blessed Day!

A Card “Just for You”!

WOW! It’s been over a month since I’ve posted to my blog! But today is March 1st and I’m ready to start some new beginnings! Frankly, I’m talking about myself. I know that I’m not the only one that tends to let other things hinder their efforts of creating! I’m mainly a hobbyist and I LOVE my Stampin’ Up! products to create cards and projects, hopefully there will be some scrapbooking in my future! For those that have subscribed to my blog, I’d like to dedicate this card to you . . . although I did make it for my BFF in Texas. Hi Leigh! Love you Girl!

Once again, I used the Botanicals For You CM (Clear Mount) from the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) brochure that I got for FREE when I spent $50 dollars on Stampin’ Up! products. It’s a SWEET DEAL for sure! By the way, SAB is still in full swing until 3.31.16!

Here are the supplies I used to make this quick “just for you” card with the exception of the Floral District Designers Series Paper (retired). Remember, you can choose other DSP’s and coordinate your card stock to get the very same look! That’s part of the beauty of sharing my sweet creations, you can tweak it and make it your own! I love the little banners that I included to give it a little something extra! And how about the little bit of “bling” with the rhinestones! Enjoy!

“Just for You” . . . I added the Bohemian DSP in the supply list that would coordinate beautifully with the Rich Razzleberry ink and card stock! 🙂

Tonya, The Sweet Inker!

My First Post – Showcasing My First Card

We all start somewhere and for me, it began back in June of 2008! I attended my very first Card Club and made this card! Isn’t it SWEET!! I had NO IDEA what in the heck I was doing as everyone around me was producing their cards in a very timely manner! But not me! That’s okay though as I managed with the help of others around me. That’s one thing I love about crafters, they are so enthusiastic about inking, stamping, and crafting; they love to share it with others!

2015.9.12 _my_first_card_2008.6

I was first introduced to Stampin’ Up! that night! I had NEVER heard of Stampin’ Up! (SU) before that night! My husband and I just moved from my home state of Texas to his home state of Illinois on May 12, 2008. Yes, I remember the date! LOL! I always knew one day I’d end up in Illinois when we got older. We lived our first 22 years married in Texas and I suppose we’ll finish our days out in Illinois. One never knows though!! It was difficult leaving my home state of Texas, my family, friends, and relatives all behind! But when I attended my first Stampin’ Up! Card Club as a guest with one of my husband’s relatives, I was HOOKED! I loved inking, stamping, and creating cards not to mention meeting a wonderful group of ladies! I so looked forward to that SU Card Club each and every month. I finally signed up as a SU Demonstrator in March, 2011. I hate to admit that I am my own best customer! LOL!

Please come back to see me here on So Inking Sweet! I’m just getting my feet wet with my Web site. Please excuse any hiccups as I’ve developed this site on my own. If there is a problem, please leave me a comment! Also I hope you’ll subscribe to my blog and head over to my So Inking Sweet FB page and click LIKE! If you’d like to know a little more about me, click “About Me” up on my Top Navigation Bar (at the VERY top of the page)! Until Next Time!

FYI – Shop Now on my Navigation Bar will take you to my SU Online Store. If you don’t see my name up in the top right hand corner then, please let me know. The link has worked every time I have tested it except once it took me to and that’s okay too. You can find me through the Demonstrator Locator there as well.
