A Grand Kid Card and Card Challenges!

I had SO MUCH FUN creating this card for my granddaughter, Theä! The stamp set is called A Grand Kid. When it came out, I knew I had to have it. The sentiment BEST.GRANDKID.EVER. is stamped inside (see image of stamp set below) but after I stamp ‘WE MUST BE RELATED!’. LOL! I know Theä will love it. By the way, she is everything as stated on the card! I’m not biased! LOL! My card was INSPIRED by two card challenges: Festive Friday & Freshly Made Sketches I LOVE how my card turned out! I’m so thankful to have inspiration when creating a card. Be sure to check out both of these card challenge sites!

Below is a CLOSEUP of my ‘Balloon Flowers’ to show how I made the petals SHINE with Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush. I added Epoxy Embellishments to the center of the Daisy Lane flowers (Daisy Lane Cling Stamp Set & Medium Daisy Punch).

My card started with the #FMS504 sketch. I turned my slimline card on its side for this challenge. I find having a sketch to go by or coming up with one myself is usually a great starting point when creating cards.

I also pulled inspiration from the #FF0093 card challenge using the following from the INSPO LIST: Flower Shaped Balloons, Stripes, Shiny, and Epoxy Embellishments

Inspiration from Card Challenge Sites:

Card Details:

  • Basic White Card Base | 9″ x 7-1/2″ | Scored at 3-3/4″ (I used Thick Basic White Cardstock)
  • Pattern Party DSP | 1″ x 9″
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock | 3/8″ x 9″
  • Basic White Cardstock for Daisy Flowers
  • Adhere the Pattern Party DSP and Crushed Curry Cardstock | Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Stamp sentiment to card front with Memento Tuxedo Black | I used the Stamparatus!
  • Stamp Daisy Flowers onto Basic White Cardstock | Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo
  • Punch out flowers with Medium Daisy Punch
  • POP UP FIRST flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals | Draw balloon line
  • POP UP SECOND flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals | Draw balloon line
  • POP UP THIRD flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals | Draw balloon line
  • Add Epoxy Embellishments
  • Apply Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush to the flower petals and around the embellishments
  • I suggest using a NON-Machineable Surcharge Stamp due to the thickness of the card

Celebrate Sunflowers and Card Challenges

I’ve really been INSPIRED lately but it’s all due to the inspiration from several card challenge sites that I follow! I needed to make a birthday card for my SIL, Paula Denton, and this is what I created for her. I LOVE IT! It’s simple but still has a few special touches, which is the ADDED EMBELLISHMENTS to the center of each sunflower PLUS I EMBOSSED the Happy Birthday sentiment. The inspiration for my card was from Freshly Made Sketches and Global Design Project. Be sure to check out both links to see all the other great cards!

My card started with the #FMS503 sketch. I love the simplicity of this sketch! I find having a sketch to go by or coming up with one myself is usually a great starting point when creating cards.

I pulled in the inspiration from the #GDP309 card challenge which was to use the colors: BLACK, WHITE, ANY COLOR (CRUSHED CURRY).

Daisy Lane and Pattern Party DSP plus Card Challenges

Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush = Shimmering Daisies

I’m back today showcasing this SWEET birthday card I made for our daughter, Tenaya (If you are reading this, Happy Birthday Babe! Dad and I love you!) I chose these colors for a couple of reasons. One, she likes black with pops of color. Two, the colors are part of a card challenge. Speaking of card challenges, my card was inspired by two card challenges: Sunday Stamps and TGIF Challenge. This will be my first time to participate with these card challenge sites. I had fun creating Tenaya’s card! It’s simple with a bit of sparkle! That is where the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush makes its debut! I love this stuff! NOTICE that I ONLY used the Wink of Stella on the solid colored cardstock for the Daisies. I stamped the Daisies onto Basic White cardstock and coordinating solid colored cardstock and layered them together. I like how it turned out! Here is a close up . . .

Inspiration from Card Challenge Sites:

#SSC265
I used the first 3 colors and Black as my Neutral color
#TGIFC333
Set of 3 Sketch Challenge

Please be sure to visit each of the challenge sites to see the other great cards that are created using the inspiration provided! Inspiration comes from many places but I really like to participate in card challenges when I’m able to do so. Stampin’ Up!’s catalogs have TONS OF INSPIRATION as well! You can also CASE (meaning Copy And Share Everything) from the catalog and from others. Remember to always give credit where credit is due if you CASE from a fellow card maker.

Card Details:

  • Basic White Thick Card Base | 8-1/2” X 5-1/2” | Scored at 4-1/4”
  • Basic White 4” x 2-1/4” | Sentiment Die Cut
  • Pumpkin Pie cardstock for sentiment
  • Basic White cardstock for Daisies
  • Pattern Party DSP | 3 pieces @ 1” x 4-1/4” See TIPS!
  • Stamp the Daisies onto Basic White cardstock using the different ink colors | Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry
  • Stamp the Daisies onto their coordinating colored cardstock.
  • Punch Daisies out using the Daisy and Medium Daisy Punches.
  • Layer the Daises placing the solid colored on top and adhere together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue See TIPS!
  • Apply Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to solid colored daisy petals and allow to dry
  • Place the 3 pieces of Pattern Party DSP onto card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Die cut the larger sentiment label.
  • Create sentiment label using Moment Tuxedo Black for both sentiments. See TIPS!
  • Stamp sentiment onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock, then die cut
  • Adhere the two larger Daises to card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Pop up the large sentiment label with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Pop up the long rectangle Pumpkin Pie sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Layer 2 Stampin’ Dimensionals underneath the medium Daisies and adhere to card.
  • Add Extra protection! I place a 4″ x 5-1/4″ copy paper (or cheap white cardstock) in front card when placing inside envelope.
  • I suggest using Non-Machineable Postage Stamps to mail this type of card due to the thickness. See TIPS!

Tips!

Stamparatus VS Clear Blocks: This could be personal choice and/or it depends on what you are stamping and/or your project. Stamparatus allows for precision stamping! Once I stamp the image and decide that I don’t have enough ink coverage, I can re-ink the stamp and stamp the image once again. The Stamparatus is also great when making multiple cards of the same design at one time and especially for mass producing! i.e. Christmas cards

Black & White Striped DSP: Be sure to eyeball the stripes on the Black & White Striped Pattern Party DSP to see how you want to cut it for uniformity of stripes between the 3 pieces. Adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue as it allows maneuverability. In other words, it’s more forgiving!

Daisies & Adhesives: Apply Multipurpose Liquid Glue in the CENTER portion of each larger Daisy when adhering together AND adhering to the card base. The Medium Daisies will have double stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Sentiment Label: Place die cut cardstock for Celebrate sentiment on Stamparatus. Place the die onto cardstock then place your stamp where you need it. Close the clear hinged plate to pick up the stamp while opening it back up. Remove the die and secure cardstock with a magnet. Ink up the stamp that is now on your clear hinged plate, close your hinged plate to stamp the image onto the cardstock. You can use Clear Blocks to stamp but I LOVE my Stamparatus!

Non-Machineable Postage Stamps: These USPS stamps are just a bit more in price but it will ensure your card will make it through the mail without incident! I only use these types of postage stamps when I know that my card is rather THICK and cannot go through the usual sorting machines. Believe me, I’ve had a couple of cards come back to me in pieces but that was before I knew what to do to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Brilliant Butterfly Wings | FMS502 & FF0092

I LOVE creating cards utilizing inspiration from card challenge sites. My card today is inspired by a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and Festive Friday. PLEASE be sure to click the images below to visit the current card challenges! I knew I wanted to play with some patterns from the Pattern Party 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (HOST ITEM!). I love all the different patterns with beautiful colors and one side and black and white on the reverse sides. There are 48 sheets of 12 double-sided designs! You can EARN this HOST ITEM by hosting a party or purchasing $150 minimum in products only (before tax/shipping). Just thought I’d explain how you can get your hands on this DSP!

I started with the sketch for my inspiration then I reviewed the INSPO LIST that is provided by Festive Friday for their card challenge. The way I like to create is to have inspiration(s) and card challenge sites definitely provide a lot of inspiration. Then I decided on using Pattern Party DSP and selected 2 patterns then a coordinating cardstock. I truly didn’t know exactly what I would end up creating but I’m very pleased with the outcome. I really had fun creating this card! Plus I knew I had to add some pearls to make it extra special! Here’s a close up of the front panel. What do you think?

Inspiration from Card Challenge Sites:

#FF0092 Challenge
White, Pearls, Die Cut, Leaves (DSP)

Card Details:

  • Basic White Cardstock | 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2 | Scored at 4-1/4″
  • Pale Papaya Cardstock | 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ | Extra for sentiment label & butterfly dies
  • Pattern Party DSP | 3-7/8″ x 5″
  • Pattern Party DSP | 2-7/8″ x 3-3/4″
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock for butterfly dies
  • Adhere panels to Basic White card base* (See Tips!)
  • Stamp sentiment in Granny Apple Green on Pale Papaya cardstock | Acrylic Block G or Stamparatus
  • Die cut sentiment label* and butterflies
  • Adhere sentiment label with Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up
  • Use adhesive* to secure intricate die cut butterflies to solid die cut butterflies
  • Adhere butterflies with Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them up
  • Add Pearls Basic Jewels last
  • Add Extra protection! I place a 4″ x 5-1/4″ copy paper (or cheap white cardstock) in front card when placing inside envelope.
  • I suggest using Non-Machineable Stamps* to mail this type of card.

Tips!

Although I love the Stampin’ Seal and Stampin’ Seal+ adhesive, I LOVE TomBow Multipurpose Liquid Glue! It truly is my FAVORITE liquid glue! It allows me to be able to perfectly position my panels to the card base. I suggest using liquid glue a lot of times when adhering panels to card bases but I do use the other adhesives depending on what I’m doing. When I add a Basic White cardstock inside a solid colored card base, I’ll use the Stampin’ Seal. It’s really a personal choice to what adhesives you want to use when creating your cards.

Regarding the die cut label, I manipulated the die to get an ETRA LONG LABEL. You may need to play with this using scrap cardstock. Don’t run the entire die through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (I still refer to it as the Big Shot!). Then reposition the die to get the extension but remember not to go all the way when running through once again. When you reposition the die, you’ll feel it when the cardstock fits into the little stitched grooves of the die. I hope this makes sense. I realize that a YouTube video would be most helpful here because if you are like me, you’re a visual learner as well.

When adhering the intricate die cut butterflies to the solid butterfly bases, I use liquid glue JUST underneath the body of the butterflies. That way the intricate wings can be free to fly!

Non-Machineable Stamps are just a bit more in price but it will ensure your card will make it through the mail without incident! Believe me, I’ve had a couple of cards come back to me in pieces but that was before I knew what to do to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Another Version of My Card

I made another version of my card but this time I only used one butterfly and I DID NOT MANIPULATE the label die cut to do the sentiment label. I wanted you to see that you can do the sentiment label another way in case you don’t want to mess with manipulating the die to get the longer version. It truly works both ways!

Biggest Wish & Sending Hugs Birthday Card & #GDP308

I LOVE my card but as usual I don’t love my photo! I take lots of different pictures in different locations in my home hoping to get that one shot for my blog post! My problem is the photographer (me) and never enough natural lighting. But hey . . . let’s talk about my card and not my photo! LOL!

The inspiration for my card came from Global Design Project, which has four challenges each month. This weeks challenge is CASE the Designer #GDP308. I love the inspiration card!

To CASE means to Copy and Share Everything but you can definitely tweak it in some manner to make it your own as I have done with my card. I CASEd the same layout in the challenge image and then I chose my stamp set(s) and colors.

Card Details:

  • Evening Evergreen cardstock | 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ | Scored at 4-1/4″
  • Polished Pink cardstock | 4 x 5-1/4″
  • Watercolor Paper* | 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • Stamp floral image in StazOn Jet Black utilizing masking technique*
  • Use ink pads (see Product Table) and blender pen(s) to watercolor image*
  • Stamp sentiment with Polished Pink (lighter color) for HAPPY
  • Stamp sentiment with Evening Evergreen (darker color) for birthday
  • Adhere watercolor panel to Polished Pink cardstock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Adhere to card base using liquid glue or other adhesive
  • Add embellishments

Tips!

I used a retired Watercolor Paper from many years back. I believe I purchased it before Stampin’ Up! came out with the newest ink formula. It is textured as you can tell from my image. I’ll be listing the NEWER Watercolor, which has a subtle texture as well as acid free and archival cotton. I need to also try the Shimmery White cardstock because both perfect for watercoloring! I’ll list it below in Product Table as well.

I recommend using Stampin’ Up!’s Stamparatus for certain stamping projects and this is one of them. Actually most projects, I use my Stamparatus. Why? It allows for precision stamping! Once I stamp the image and decide that I don’t have enough ink coverage, I can re-ink the stamp and stamp the image once again. The Stamparatus is also great when making multiple cards of the same design at one time and especially for mass producing! i.e. Christmas cards

Masking technique simply means to cover part of an image that you don’t want to stamp onto a card. You can use PostIt Notes or scotch tape to name just a couple. I used scotch tape. I use a strip longer than my stamp because I could then stick it down on the Stamparatus plate as well. I was able to use my one strip of tape multiple times until I was finished with my project.

I used my ink pads and Blender Pens to do my watercoloring. I lay the brush tip of the Blender Pen down onto my ink pad to lift color. I suggest using scrap paper to dab off or to test how much color you have on your Blender Pen. Use one end for Reds/Oranges/Yellows and the other end for darker colors. Once done with each color, just swipe back and forth across scrap paper until no more color is visible. I also used my coordinating Stampin’ Write Markers to add a bit more detail to my watercoloring. By the way, you can also use Stampin’ Blend Markers to color images.

My Cards!

I decided to stamp all three sentiments best wishes, Thinking of YOU, and Congratulations on my cards that have the So Saffron patterned card base. You can also use other sentiment stamps as the possibilities are endless when it comes to stamping on the provided die cuts! Once you use up your supplies in the kit, you’ll still have your stamp set and ink spot to use to make other cards. FYI: You can purchase a Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill for your Classic Stampin’ Spot!

Stamparatus™

Although you get an acrylic stamp block in your kit, I am SPOILED using Stampin’ Up!’s Stamparatus™! It allows me to stamp with precision. If my image didn’t stamp just right, I can re-ink my stamp and stamp once more to get my image or sentiment just right. You can stamp just using the acrylic stamp block provided in the kit if you’d like, but I’m telling you . . . you cannot go wrong investing in this stamping tool. I’ll include just two pics below that kind of give you an idea of what it looks like and how I use it. I think I should do a whole other post just on this WONDERFUL tool! By the way, the Stamparatus™ comes with TWO plates and MORE!

Once I stamp the sentiment, I clean the stamp before moving it in place onto the next sentiment die cut label. Then I re-ink the stamp, close the hinged plate, and press down. When you gently raise the plate up, you will see the stamp releasing itself from the die cut cardstock. Viola! PERFECT STAMPING! Another very HELPFUL TOOL is the Take Your Pick™! Be sure to check it out! It’s a multipurpose pickup and precision tool which simplifies meticulous tasks when crafting! See both the Stamparatus™ and Take Your Pick™ in my product table.

Days To Remember!

I love creating SIMPLE cards y’all! I would consider this card as SIMPLE if I had not added embellishments, yet it’s STILL SIMPLE! I could step this card up by adding a layer of Bumblebee cardstock underneath the wood textured DSP (In Good Taste 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper). I hate to point out that I was barely able to fit my calendar onto my die cut from Tasteful Labels Die Set. I will be creating this card again so I will try a different die from my Stitched Rectangles or Stitched So Sweetly Die Sets.

Some people say they aren’t creative, which includes me! Ha! When I want to create a card, I usually know what stamp set and/or DSP I want to use and then I go from there. That’s what I did here. I wanted to use the Days To Remember Photopolymer Stamp Set. Plus with the person in mind that is receiving this card, I knew that I wanted to pull out the ‘barn wood design’ from the In Good Taste DSP. I used a basic layout that I’ve used before for another card.

Using Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon was a no brainer! Then I stamped a flower on top of the 31 in the calendar with Bumblebee Ink Pad (In Color 2020-2022). I hesitated about adding an embellishment in the middle of the flower as it would rather hide the 31 but I threw caution to the wind! LOL! Then I decided to add more embellishments from the Metallic Pearls, which has both Gold and Silver Metallic Pearls. I’ll add two more pictures that I took. I struggle getting good pictures!

Depending on my lighting, it changes the look of the woodgrain when I take pictures. I truly want you to see the beauty of the woodgrain! This DSP pack has other woodgrain as well. Be sure to check out ALL the designs by clicking on this product in the table below! Here are some other project examples from the current 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. I can’t wait to create more cards with the Days To Remember stamp set or other projects using calendars!

CARD DETAILS:

  • Basic White Thick | 8-1/2” X 5-1/2” Base – Scored at 4-1/4”
  • Basic White 4” x 2-1/4” | Sentiment Die Cut
  • DSP | 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ | Attach to card base | I use Multipurpose Liquid Glue (SEE TIP!)
  • Cut ribbon at 6-1/4″ and 3″ for the knotted bow
  • Add longer ribbon to front panel. (SEE TIP!)
  • Die cut label
  • Stamp the calendar using Momento Tuxedo Black onto to label | Use Acrylic Blocks | Create Mask (SEE TIP!)
  • Stamp the flower or select a different image from stamp set.
  • Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, pop up the die cut label
  • Add knotted ribbon with Mini Glue Dot
  • Add embellishments
  • Your done accept placing into an envelope! Click HERE for envelopes! (NOT in product table)

TIPS:

Tom Bow Multipurpose Liquid Glue is my favorite adhesive! It’s more forgiving when adding layers to a card. I also use Stampin’ Seal but I prefer the liquid glue, especially when my border around the panel is so tiny. It allows me to maneuver my panel exactly where it needs to be on my card base.

I used the Sunday through Monday stamp for the week days. This stamp set gives you two choices. You’ll have to create a mask using post it notes or even scotch tape. You can also use vellum, which I used first, but then I created a template from a Window Sheet so I could use it over and over! I will either create a video or better instructions to post this week! Fingers crossed!

Once you decide about where you want your long piece of ribbon to be placed, place the DSP face down on top of the ribbon. Add Stampin’ Seal to the side edges of the back side and fold the ribbon ends over onto the back. I also use my Take A Pick Tool and place two glue dots underneath the ribbon on the front side. One is underneath the label and the other one is on the other side of the bow.

Luvin’ the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper!

I mentioned in my last post that I would create another card using that same layout and here it is! Don’t you just LOVE this Pattern Party 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP)?! Honestly there are so many different designs in this 48 sheet DSP pack of papers! You get 4 each of 12 double-sided designs and they are acid free/lignin free so you can use them if you scrapbook. I made this birthday card for Leigh Ann. She’s been my BFF for nearly 4 decades! Don’t worry, she received her card in the mail yesterday so she has seen it already! She subscribes to my blog so I purposely waited to post her card. Happy Birthday Leigh Ann!

The Pattern Party DSP is one of four products that you can EARN! Spend $150.00 in products (before tax/shipping) and earn 10% in Stampin’ Rewards, which would be $15.00 that you can then apply towards the Pattern Party DSP. You could also HOST A PARTY, which then your guest would help you EARN Stampin’ Rewards. There are four levels of EARNING POWER! You can spend your Stampin’ Rewards on any product(s)! For further details about Stampin’ Rewards, click HERE!

To see ALL the different patterns in the Pattern Party DSP, click the link above or in the product table below! Here is the one sheet that I just fell in LOVE with to make my card using a butterfly die from the Brilliant Wings Die set! By the way, you can get this die and coordinating stamp set as a bundle and SAVE 10%! It’s called the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle.

CARD DETALS:

  • Basic White Thick | 8-1/2” X 5-1/2” Base – Scored at 4-1/4”
  • Basic White 4” x 2-1/4” | Sentiment Die Cut
  • Flirty Flamingo | 5” x 3-3/4” – Front Panel
  • Pattern Party DSP | 3 pieces @ 1-1/2” x 3-1/2” SEE TIP before cutting!
  • Adhere front panel to the card base
  • Adhere the 3 pieces of DSP
  • Die cut the Basic White cardstock for Thank You sentiment using Tasteful Label Dies
  • Use B Clear Block or Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment onto the die cut panel using Flirty Flamingo ink pad.
  • Die cut the butterfly and adhere to die cut panel. Use Mini Glue Dots or Multipurpose Glue.
  • Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to POP UP the sentiment die cut.
  • Add embellishment to the butterfly’s body.

TIPS:

  • Cut the DSP at 4-1/2” x 3-1/2”, then cut it at 1-1/2” along the long side to get your 3 strips.
  • Place die cut cardstock for Thank You sentiment on Stamparatus. Position magnets. Place your stamp where you need it, close your hinged plate so that it picks up the stamp. Then ink up your sentiment stamp, close hinged plate and press . . . now it is stamped!
  • Using the Stamparatus allows you to reink your stamp if you need to add more ink to get better coverage! I highly suggest investing in this awesome tool!

WooHoo! My Blog is Back!

YES! MY BLOG IS BACK! THANK YOU FOR BEING PATIENT!

I took a brief time away from social media and blogging during April. Honestly time got away from me as I did not intend on being absent the entire month. Come May, I updated my monthly Host Code for my blog (see in right panel) and the next morning when I was going to add the new widget for the NEW 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, as it was going LIVE the same day, my site was DOWN and had been until the morning of June 17! I’ve spent since the morning of May 4 going back and forth almost DAILY between my web host and the service that provides my daily backups. I am my own Web Developer, so to speak, as I created my blog through WordPress.org, chose a theme and customized it, created my blog and chose a web host to go LIVE. I’m not a professional Web Developer nor am I extremely proficient with WordPress but I know enough to do what I do, if that makes sense! LOL!

Please be assured at NO TIME was my website infected with malware as it was an internal server issue that caused my problems. Hopefully this matter has been permanently resolved! BTW, my site is a SECURE site! Notice the LOCK in the URL when you visit my blog! Also I’ve been working on my blog to get some links updated, rearranged and added some links as well in the main navigational menu bar! Be sure to check ’em out while you are here today!

FYI: If you look at my blog on a mobile device, it will look the same as if you were on your computer. The interface is the same. That’s called being NON RESPONSIVE on mobile devices. I’ve really not worried about that issue but hopefully at some point in the very near future that will be resolved!

Regarding My Thank You Card

CARD DETAILS

  • Card Base: Basic White Thick | 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ | Scored at 4-1/4″
  • Card stock: I used retired Designer Series Paper | Substitute any Designer Series Paper | 2″ x 5-1/2″
  • Card stock: Solid color to coordinate with DSP | 1/2″ x 5-1/2″
  • Card stock: Solid color to coordinate with DSP for Butterfly die cuts
  • Ink Pad: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Stamp: Humming Along (Retired) | Numerous stamp sets to choose from in the new Annual Catalog or Jan-Jun Mini Catalog, which ends June 30
  • Dies: Butterfly Wings Dies | Coordinates with Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set which you can BUNDLE!
  • Embellishments: Rhinestone Basic Jewels
  • Adhere panels to card base using Multipurpose Glue
  • Stamp sentiment image of your choice
  • Die cut butterflies and adhere using adhesive using Multipurpose Glue
  • Add embellishments last.

I may have used beautiful retired DSP for my cards but you can substitute other DSP in its place! A lot of DSP has coordinating prints on the backside that you can use for the bottom strip as I did in the one below . . . and yes, that DSP is retired as well. The strip on the bottom is the back side of the poppies DSP. I love how that turned out! You may be wondering why I’m not using something current for my DSP. These cards were special made for special people so therefore the prints were chosen with them in mind. *SMILE* With that being said, Stampin’ Up! has gorgeous Designer Series Paper that would work using this card layout!

Don’t you just LOVE the BUTTERFLIES on these cards!

Who Else Loves Floral DSP Cards?

If the floral paper on the first card seems familiar, yes . . . you’ve seen that Flower For Every Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) before on a pervious card, which you can see that post HERE. I changed the layout and did the ribbon differently for these two cards. The floral paper on the second card is from the same DSP paper pack! I LOVE IT but I love all the papers in that paper pack! I also love the BIG sentiment, from the So Sentimental Cling Stamp Set, on the Basic White cardstock. In my opinion, I think the white die cut label from the Tasteful Label Dies pulls the white out of both floral papers. SADLY the DSP and the So Sentimental Cling Stamp Set is on the Retirement List! It will NOT carry over into the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, which goes live May 4! I’ll include a download for you later in this post! I’m always so sad to see my favorite things retire but then there will be new things to get excited about as well.

I truly love simple cards with simple layouts. I think you could use these cards for an Anniversary or even a Wedding card! There are more beautiful papers in this DSP paper pack that I’m sure I’ll be using them with this layout again! Adding just a bit of ribbon to my cards gives it that little extra special touch as well as embossing the sentiment. After I embossed my sentiments with Stampin’ Clear Emboss Powder, I took a side by side picture. The non-embossed sentiment on the left is softer and blends well with the DSP. The embossed sentiment on the right has the raised, shiny affect which is also a bit darker. Which one do you like?

CARD DETAILS

  • Card Base: Just Jade In Color 2020-2022 | 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ | Scored at 4-1/4″
  • Panel: Flower For Every Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper | 5-1/4” x 4
  • Basic White 4” x 3” – Label for Sentiment
  • Basic White | 5-1/4” x 4” – Inside Panel
  • Stamp sentiment with Just Jade In Color 2020-2022 Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad
  • Immediately add Stampin’ Clear Emboss Powder and set with Heat Tool
  • Die cut sentiment using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Just Jade In Color 2020-2022 ¼” Ribbon | 5” Long Horizontal Ribbon | 2-1/2” Long for Bow
  • Add ribbon across the lower front of the DSP panel, adhere ends behind the panel with Stampin’ Seal Adhesive

USEFUL TIPS

  • Stamp sentiment then add Clear Emboss, heat set. You can do this with ANY ink color! WooHoo!
  • If using the Stamparatus – Place cardstock for sentiment on Stamparatus. Lay die cut down FIRST then place cling stamp in center. REMOVE die cut before adding the magnets to hold cardstock in place.
  • Using the Stamparatus allows you to re-ink your stamp if you need to add more ink or to get better coverage!
