Stampin’ Up!’s Queen Bee Cling Stamp Set is such a fun stamp set. When I first saw it, I knew I had to have it to make something special for our daughter, Tenaya. She loves bees! I made this birthday card for her, which she has received and I can now share it. Her birthday was yesterday and it’s so hard to believe how the years have passed by and she is now 36 years old! I’m feeling a bit older myself now! LOL!
Tenaya is our miracle baby as I was told I couldn’t have any children. She’s an only child, married to an only child, and they have an only child! I know . . . I was sure hoping that cycle would be broken but it wasn’t meant to be, sadly. On a brighter note, we have a wonderful son-in-law, Jon, and our precious Theä (10 yrs old) who are part of our family!
Putting It All Together
Look at the detail in the wings and the body of the Queen Bee. It’s so beautiful when embossed. I stamped the Queen Bee using VersaMark onto Crushed Curry cardstock and then used Black Embossing Powder. Using my Heat Tool, I watched it magically turn into a touch of WOW! Notice the texture in the close up image. I used Nested Essentials Dies to die cut this main attraction for my card!
This is the patterned paper that I picked out! I thought it would be perfect. It’s cut to fit the front of the Basic White card base and adhered with TomBow Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This allows movement so I can get it glued on just right! TIP: Be sure to smooth out any glue lines underneath the DSP with a Bone Folder. Work your way inwards so you don’t have glue oozing out the edges. I don’t have Wild Wheat so I used Crushed Curry cardstock and Crushed Curry Classic Stampin’ Pad. I’d say it worked out pretty well.
TECHNIQUE: After adhering the DSP to the card base, I stamped Happy Birthday using Crushed Curry Stampin’ Pad. Using my stamping tool, I’m able to double stamp. Clean the stamp and then stamp again but with VersaMark and then use Clear Embossing Powder and heat it until it’s set. Stamp remaining images with Memento Tuxedo Black.
Lastly, pop up the main attraction with Stampin’ Dimensionals and add a few black embellishments to the card. Done! FYI ~ I used some left over black sequins from a past Paper Pumpkin Kit. But you could use the Adhesive Back Sparkle Gems, which are on my Wish List!! The colors are black, champagne, and white. I included these in the Product Table so you can check them out.
Cardstock Measurements
- Basic White card base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ | scored at 4-1/4″
- Country Woods 12″ x 12″ DSP panel: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
- Crushed Curry: 3-1/2″ x 2-3/4″
Special Touches
Don’t forget to decorate the envelope! I have the address covered up with what didn’t work out in the beginning when designing my card. Sometimes that happens. I had stamped the Queen Bee onto Basic White cardstock and it just didn’t work at all!
