A Grand Kid Card and Card Challenges!

I had SO MUCH FUN creating this card for my granddaughter, Theä! The stamp set is called A Grand Kid. When it came out, I knew I had to have it. The sentiment BEST.GRANDKID.EVER. is stamped inside (see image of stamp set below) but after I stamp ‘WE MUST BE RELATED!’. LOL! I know Theä will love it. By the way, she is everything as stated on the card! I’m not biased! LOL! My card was INSPIRED by two card challenges: Festive Friday & Freshly Made Sketches I LOVE how my card turned out! I’m so thankful to have inspiration when creating a card. Be sure to check out both of these card challenge sites!

Below is a CLOSEUP of my ‘Balloon Flowers’ to show how I made the petals SHINE with Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush. I added Epoxy Embellishments to the center of the Daisy Lane flowers (Daisy Lane Cling Stamp Set & Medium Daisy Punch).

My card started with the #FMS504 sketch. I turned my slimline card on its side for this challenge. I find having a sketch to go by or coming up with one myself is usually a great starting point when creating cards.

I also pulled inspiration from the #FF0093 card challenge using the following from the INSPO LIST: Flower Shaped Balloons, Stripes, Shiny, and Epoxy Embellishments

Inspiration from Card Challenge Sites:

Card Details:

  • Basic White Card Base | 9″ x 7-1/2″ | Scored at 3-3/4″ (I used Thick Basic White Cardstock)
  • Pattern Party DSP | 1″ x 9″
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock | 3/8″ x 9″
  • Basic White Cardstock for Daisy Flowers
  • Adhere the Pattern Party DSP and Crushed Curry Cardstock | Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Stamp sentiment to card front with Memento Tuxedo Black | I used the Stamparatus!
  • Stamp Daisy Flowers onto Basic White Cardstock | Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo
  • Punch out flowers with Medium Daisy Punch
  • POP UP FIRST flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals | Draw balloon line
  • POP UP SECOND flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals | Draw balloon line
  • POP UP THIRD flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals | Draw balloon line
  • Add Epoxy Embellishments
  • Apply Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush to the flower petals and around the embellishments
  • I suggest using a NON-Machineable Surcharge Stamp due to the thickness of the card

Happy Birthday Travis & PP308 Color Challenge

2016.8.18 Stars Happy Bday

Happy birthday to my nephew, Travis! He is just one of three sons to my twin brother, Tony. Yes, I have a twin brother! It’s back to school on Monday for Travis so I LOVE these bright, cheery “Back to School” colors in The Paper Players Color Challenge! Check out the other great cards by the Design Team and other participates!

After I had made Travis’ card, I made another one but I didn’t use the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder. It’s very CAS (Clean and Simple). It just shows you how you can step up a card by adding something as simple as some textured embossing!

Happy 18th Birthday to my nephew, Coley!

Today is my nephew’s 18th birthday! I wished him a “Happy Birthday” today on Facebook and mentioned that his card would be a WEE BIT LATE! I’m usually (key word here) on time with my cards. This is what happens when procrastination happens. So I grabbed a card that I had made a couple of years ago for a card club and tweaked it by adding die cut digits to it! Brilliant thinking on my part if I do say so myself! Yet I feel horrible I didn’t take the time to make a special card as I did for his 16th birthday!  Well life does go on doesn’t it! I rather like the addition of the “18th” to the card. What do you think?

Here are the cards my card club made back in May of 2014. Notice how I changed card stock colors that coordinated with the patterned paper colors? I used Indigo Island, Summer Starfruit, and Tangerine Tango. The patterned paper is SycamoreStreet DSP (Retired) but you can use other patterned paper! Super fast and easy card! The “happy birthday” sentiment is from a Hostess stamp set called Express Yourself but once again, you can use a different sentiment.

I try really hard to keep up with where I find my inspirations from or from who I may CASE something from so I can give credit to that person. I loved the simplicity of this layout so much that I had to CASE it. Remember what CASE means?

CASE = Copy and Share Everything OR Copy and Selectively Edit

I was inspired by Bekka Prideaux of www.feeling-crafty.blogspot.com. This link will take you to the original post date of August 14, 2013. Like I said, I just loved the simplicity of her card!

I hope you give this layout a try and be sure to visit Bekka’s blog! Well my Sweetheart is wondering when I’m going to be done “blogging”! I had better wrap this up!! Oh and don’t forget about the Retiring List that is out! We all LOVE a GREAT DEAL!! Some items have been discounted up to 50%!

Gorgeous Grunge Birthday Card

I love it when I can whip together a quick, yet fun birthday card! I knew I wanted this to be a one layer card as time was not on my side. I made this birthday card for my nephew, Levi. He will be turning 12 next month.

I love this color combination as it’s bright, cheerful, fun, and happy! I purposely, yes purposely, did not center the Happy Birthday sentiment, which is a fun font for the younger crowd! This card didn’t take any time at all to pull together. I LOVE simple, quick cards to be honest! You could mass produce this card for all the young males on your birthday list: sons, your son’s friends, nephews, cousins, . . . you get the point! This is just such a fun card! I’m definitely making more of these!

TIP: You can switch up the colors to make it more “girly girl”, if you will, for the girls!

FYI: I actually have these two stamp sets in Clear Mount (CM). Depending on the stamp helps to determine whether I buy Wood Mount (WM) or CM. If the sentiments were smaller in size in the Sassy Salutations Stamp Set, I would have chosen WM. But I, like anyone, love to save money where I can so I bought both of these stamps sets in CM.

I hope you like my card today! I welcome any questions or comments! Oh, and be sure to subscribe to my Web site! Just type in your email address above in the right hand side bar and click “Subscribe Here”! That way you will receive an email notifying you that I have posted something new!
