Celebrate Sunflowers and Card Challenges

I absolutely LOVE the Celebrate Sunflowers Cling Stamp Set and coordinating die set, Sunflowers Dies! I also LOVE being able to participate in card challenges because of the inspiration they provide. I really do like coming up with my own designs and I’m able to do that when given a sketch and/or elements to incorporate into my cards. The inspiration for my card is from Freshly Made Sketches and The Card Concept card challenge sites.

Look at my close up of my sunflowers! I LOVE Wink of Stella Clear Glitter! I added some sparkle to the inner flower and then brushed outward but without totally covering each sunflower petal. I also embossed my sentiment with white embossing powder.

Inspiration from Card Challenge Sites:

Give me a sketch and I’m good to go! LOL! That is what I LOVE about Freshly Made Sketches! SKETCHES! It helps to lay the ground work for me then I can pull in inspiration from other sources. #FMS505

I also pulled in inspiration from The Card Concept challenge site. Not totally sure but I don’t believe I’ve ever participated in this card challenge site. I LOVE their concept inspiration image! I also love that I was able to choose from several concepts from their concept challenge and I chose: Black & White Checked Gingham, Sunflowers with Greenery, and Colors from their inspiration image. #thecardconcept160

My Cards!

I decided to stamp all three sentiments best wishes, Thinking of YOU, and Congratulations on my cards that have the So Saffron patterned card base. You can also use other sentiment stamps as the possibilities are endless when it comes to stamping on the provided die cuts! Once you use up your supplies in the kit, you’ll still have your stamp set and ink spot to use to make other cards. FYI: You can purchase a Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill for your Classic Stampin’ Spot!

Although you get an acrylic stamp block in your kit, I am SPOILED using Stampin’ Up!’s Stamparatus™! It allows me to stamp with precision. If my image didn’t stamp just right, I can re-ink my stamp and stamp once more to get my image or sentiment just right. You can stamp just using the acrylic stamp block provided in the kit if you’d like, but I’m telling you . . . you cannot go wrong investing in this stamping tool. I’ll include just two pics below that kind of give you an idea of what it looks like and how I use it. I think I should do a whole other post just on this WONDERFUL tool! By the way, the Stamparatus™ comes with TWO plates and MORE!

Once I stamp the sentiment, I clean the stamp before moving it in place onto the next sentiment die cut label. Then I re-ink the stamp, close the hinged plate, and press down. When you gently raise the plate up, you will see the stamp releasing itself from the die cut cardstock. Viola! PERFECT STAMPING! Another very HELPFUL TOOL is the Take Your Pick™! Be sure to check it out! It’s a multipurpose pickup and precision tool which simplifies meticulous tasks when crafting! See both the Stamparatus™ and Take Your Pick™ in my product table.

I’m always excited to receive my Paper Pumpkin Kit each month! Although this kit is no longer available, if you subscribe by March 10th you’ll receive the March 2021 – Here’s To You – Paper Pumpkin Kit. ALSO you would then be able to purchase the REFILL KIT for the February 2021 Bouquet of Hope as a NEW SUBSCRIBER to Paper Pumpkin! Here are the items in the refill kit (see below image) which will NOT include the exclusive photopolymer stamp set or the Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Spot. You can always buy the full size Classic Stampin’ Pad in Mossy Meadow or even buy Uninked Stampin’ Spots (pack of 5) and buy a Stampin’ Ink Refill in Mossy Meadow. That’s the beauty of Stampin’ Up! products, you can pick and choose the way you want to build your ink collection! If you’ll notice in the main image (above), you could actually use other stamp sets for your sentiments to stamp the two different sized labels. I’ll have an example to show you later in this post.

For more information about this particular kit see my previous post HERE! The refill kit is still available which is only $10.00 Item #156917 but you must be a subscriber to Paper Pumpkin to purchase refills/kits. Watch my unboxing video so you can see all the goodies in this box plus I share information about how Paper Pumpkin works. Now remember, I’m still new to making videos so if you leave me a comment, be nice! LOL!

My February 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Bouquet of Hope – arrived earlier this week. As soon as it arrived, unfortunately I needed to send a sympathy card to a friend who lost her sister this past Sunday. Here is the card as it is meant to be made from the kit. I assure you the picture doesn’t do it justice!

What’s great about the Paper Pumpkin Kits is that you don’t have to make the cards exactly as they are shown. You can change things such as the stamped image, use different embellishments, change the card layout and so on. Some kits through the year will actually be 3-D projects or perhaps even a home decor item! My husband’s cousin is having a birthday next week, as well as my husband and their birthdays are on the same day. So for his cousins birthday, I changed the sentiment using a different stamp set that I earned for FREE from Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration (SAB) which ends this Sunday, February 28. See more information regarding SAB below! The stamp set I used is A Touch Of Ink. It is one of my favorites! I love Hummingbirds and Butterflies! See it in the product table below! Note: It’s in Level 2 so you would have to spend $100 in product (before shipping/taxes) to EARN this particular stamp set.

I haven’t made the other cards in this kit as of yet but I can’t wait to do so! Also as a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber, you’ll receive a monthly newsletter that includes an unboxing video of latest kit (see below video), alternate projects, coordinating products, and refill/past kits (if available).

Speaking of kits, let me move onto March 2021 – Here’s To You Paper Pumpkin Kit. Subscribe for your monthly subscription HERE by March 10 or purchase a prepaid Paper Pumpkin Subscription (see product table) to get this kit. The March kit is a celebration kit that marks Paper Pumpkin’s 7th Birthday in March. This kit will include a FREE GIFT as well! View more details about this kit and subscribing to Paper Pumpkin from my earlier blog post HERE, plus I talk about it in my YouTube video that is in today’s post! You’ll not want to miss out on this great kit! Who doesn’t love FREE STUFF?! Plus with this kit, I’ll get to try out a new technique using these four stencils (each one is 4″ x 4″) and Stampin’ Sponge.

Click on the product(s) below for details and shop my online store!

Thinking of You with the Kind Koala Stamp Set – Retiring!

It is always sad when the Retiring List comes out! This little cute Koala Bear made the list, so sad! I thought I had better get this stamp out and use it so you can see just how CUTE it is! I made the first card using Crushed Curry and place a Large Basic Pearl (embellishment retired) on the flower. You can use the current Pearl Basic Jewels as well (see below). I had to make some more cards because this one turned out so CUTE (in my opinion)! BTW, the Banner Punch made the Retiring List as well! I LOVE that little punch! Don’t you?!

TIP: Stamp the Koala on both Whisper White cardstock and Crumb Cake. I also stamped the flower part on Crushed Curry. Using my Paper Snips, I did some “fussy cutting”! Before adhering this cute little Koala and flower onto the Whisper White cardstock, trace over the flower pole (line) with Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.

NOTE: It’s not listed in the supplies (you can’t buy it separately) but I used Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker to trace over the line since it was in yellow. You can buy the set of Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers which has all the neutrals color collection except for Very Vanilla and Whisper White.

Check out my other cards! This one with the Crushed Curry circle in the middle of the flower has the little pearls clustered in threes. I used the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker to color those BUT you don’t have to do that, you can leave them white if you want to! I used the Owl Builder Punch, which also made the Retiring List, for the little circle in the flower. I’m going to be in mourning over these retiring items!

My next two cards I used Pumpkin Pie and Elegant Eggplant. I didn’t do anything fancy but I did “fussy cut” the Koala Bear. I truly love doing simple cards but you can see how you can “step up” a card just by doing something extra, even if it’s just one thing! Example, the little banners! Don’t you just love those?! I do! I will still be using my Banner Punch in the future! I still in shock it’s RETIRING!

Here are my supplies:

Price: $110.00

If you love these cards and would like measurements for the different layers, please email me! I will be happy to email them to you! If you have any questions or need help with anything, please feel free to contact me! Have a Beautiful & Blessed Day!

Thoughts & Prayers for Loved Ones!

In my last post, I shared a cute card with a matching envelope which has an attached gift card holder. I love the pattern paper colors so much in the March 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit, I made several cards to send out to people who have been touched by the death of our 22 year old niece, Caity. I find it really hard to create sympathy cards. I tend to not want to even make them but once I make myself get started then I’m okay. It’s been like that since my mother passed away on 12.24.2014. It’s like I have a bit of an emotional dilemma making such cards but I guess that just makes me human.

One of my FAVORITE stamp sets to make sympathy cards, praying for you, and get well cards is Thoughts & Prayers! The Retirement List of products is due to come out today and I wouldn’t be surprised if they retired this set because it’s been around for a long time. I’m hoping that they keep it around for at least another year! Fingers Crossed! Here are the cards I created!

2016.4.15_Thinking_of_You 2016.4.15_Sympathy_Card

Here are the supplies I used to make these cards with the exception of the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack for the little flowers, it’s RETIRED! You could use the NEW Tree Builder punch (click HERE) as it has a little flower shape almost the same as  you see here on my cards.

Thinking of You! PPA274 & SUO135 & Tuesday’s Weekly Deals

Remember this stamp set from my post back on September 28th? This stamp set is SO versatile! Sheltering Tree, a photopolymer stamp set, can be used for ALL four seasons and many occasions! The possibilities of use for each of the stamps in this set is endless! I can easily say this is one of my favorites!! Go back and check out my card on 9.28.2015 and check out today’s card! You can be sure that I’ll be using this stamp set again and again!

I made my brother, Markus, a card today that I’m entering into two challenges. I love all three of my brothers but Markus is that “special” brother who truly needs to know how much I love him, always! So I made today’s card with him in mind and it’s getting mailed today! I know it will brighten his day immensely when he receive it in the mail!

My first card challenge is a color challenge with Pals Paper Arts! Check out these colors for this challenge! LOVE ’em! Notice in my card how the over lapping of Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral makes an orange color? It actually looks like I used four colors on my card! I entered two challenges back in 2012 with Pals Paper Arts. I plan on participating with Pals Paper Arts much more in the future! It’s a great card challenge site with designers that are just over the top with talent!

Also check out SU-Only Challenges Web site! It’s a card challenge site that is totally Stampin’ Up! as you are only allowed to use SU products! I’m certainly okay about that aspect! My card is entered into SUO Challenge #135 – Fall Fun! It’s been a LONG time since I participated with SUO, 2012! Back in March 2012 I made Top 3 in a “Think Spring” challenge! I made a card for my daughter who was getting married. You can see it below! 🙂

I truly have NOT been on the band wagon entering challenges for several years. Since I finally created my own Website/Blog, I’ve been A LOT better about it. I’m not uber talented but I enjoy just participating with color and layout challenges! It helps me to be more creative!!

Here is my supply list for my Thinking of You card . . .

FYI:  In the Annual Catalog, p.89., it suggests clear blocks: a, b, e, h to be used with the Sheltering Tree Photopolymer Stamp Set. In reality you can use just the Clear Block E if you are just starting out! Some people may feel that using a large clear block with little stamps may not feel right but it can be done. Just thought I would point that out to you!
