I finally got to use my Rustic Crate Photopolymer Stamp Set for this week’s Card Sketch #7! This stamp set has coordinating dies, Rustic Crate Dies. This set is a carry over item from last year and in this year’s 2024-2025 Annual Catalog on page 79. It’s a multifunctional stamp set and those are my favorite types. You get more bang for you buck!

Getting Started

I absolutely knew I wanted to use the Rustic Crate Photopolymer Stamp Set for Card Sketch #7. It’s a perfect stamp set for Autumn and Winter projects. This set includes sentiments, flowers (sunflowers, poinsettias, and herbal flowers{?}), and a wood crate. Each of the sentiments can be paired with any of the floral stamps, which makes this set great for card making or decorating gift packaging. Don’t forget to check out the Rustic Crate Dies below in the Product Table! NOTE: I used Clear Block D but you could use the suggested blocks C and E for all 8 stamps.
Basic Card Layout

I will admit that when I created my first card that was to be a BASIC card, things didn’t go according to plan but I’ll save that for another post. I started over using Pumpkin Pie cardstock for the card base and Basic White for the sentiment label. Below is how you can cut the Dovetail.

The sentiment is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and the images are stamped with Pumpkin Pie to coordinate with the card base. Noticed how I stamped the image as TWO IMAGES in the basic card instead of ONE IMAGE like below? I like it both ways. Which way do you like it? Cut 12″ of White Baker’s Twine to add to the sentiment label and pop that up with Stampin’ Dimensionals (See TWO TIPS below!) You CAN adhere the sentiment label flat to the card if you don’t have dimensionals.
BTW, the Birthday Wishes stamp is the Simply Said Photopolymer Stamp Set AC p.19 in the tips below. I made these two avid cards after I realized my first avid card was not done right. It happens sometimes but the silver lining is it gave me a chance to show these two tips! I hope it helps!

TIP #1: Before I added the sentiment label to the card base, I laid down the White Baker’s Twine (12″) across the middle first. Then I placed the label over the thread. I tied the bow and then slid it over into place.
TIP #2: Make sure your middle dimensionals are placed slightly beneath the middle mark of the back of your label. This gives a “shelf” for the thread to rest on and not slide down past that point.
Stepped Up Layout

To step up my card, I randomly stamped my image on Crumb Cake card base using VersaMark. When doing this technique the VersaMark dries fast and leaves a faded stamped image. It’s like creating your own Designer Series Paper! Stamp the images using Memento Tuxedo Black on the sentiment label and add 2 different sized black embellishments, which are retired Classic Matte Dots from the AC 2023-2024. I included a substitute in the Product Table but it might be too sparkly (see image below). Everyone is different but I love the matte look of the embellishment.

Avid Layout

I used both Crumb Cake and Basic White for my card bases. I like both colors but I think I like the Crumb Cake card base better. Which one do you like better? I embossed a 4″ x 5-1’4″ Crumb Cake panel with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. By this point, you know how to do the rest of this card! Since I made these two cards after I had done my Product Table below you can CLICK HERE to see the Simply Said Photopolymer Stamp Set that I used for the sentiment, happy birthday.

Alternate Embellishments

The Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems have black embellishments. These may be too sparkly but I wanted to share an alternative to the retired embellishments that I used.
