Who DOESN’T LOVE Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set!! I sure hope this stamp set doesn’t retire when the NEW 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! Catalog is released June 1st! I have used the stamp set for Christmas cards, Sympathy cards, Fall & Thanksgiving cards, and of course Masculine Birthday cards and this is one of them. I know you would LOVE this stamp set too! In fact, Hope Clutts (My neighbor down the road, hello neighbor! LOL!) just ordered this stamp set from me last month. I know she is going to LOVE IT!
I used Chocolate Chip card stock for the base of my card. I also stamped this lovely Pine tree (I think it’s a Pine tree! How about you?) in Chocolate Chip. The second layer of my card is Old Olive card stock, my go to green plus it goes beautifully with Chocolate Chip. I actually stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in Archival Basic Black. It works GREAT for sentiments such as this one.
Now to explain how I did the circular part in Olive Olive. I punched out a 2 1/2″ Circle Punch (retired) out of a piece of card stock for my template. You can use the Layering Circles Framelits to do this as well. Hence the reason the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch was retired when this NEW framelit was released in the current catalog. I positioned the punched out circular area over the Whisper White card stock where I thought I would like it best and then sponged Olive Olive in a circular motion. EASY PEASY! I love those Stamping Sponges. I cut them into quarters to do this technique.
On my main birthday card, I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from February’s Paper Pumpkin Kit. I really love the font. I also used two other stamps, see below. The first one is from Sincere Salutations (retired) and the next one is from Designer Tin of Cards Photopolymer Stamp Set (current). You can play with different sentiments with this type of card design. Which font style do you like best of the three sentiments?
TIP OF THE DAY:
Can you see the bumpiness underneath the Whisper White card stock on the first card that says Birthday Wishes? To keep that from happening to you, DON’T use the TomBow Liquid Glue. Use the Snail Adhesive. Since I messed up, I figured this would be a great learning tip for you. However, I did use the liquid glue to adhere the Old Olive layer to to the card base, which allows you a little wiggle room to get your layer on just right!

I don’t have a favorite of the three, they are all great. I haven’t used my tree set in many a moon! I must use it sometime soon. Thanks for the tip on the white cardstock and the green glue. I had that problem with a sympathy card and didn’t realize it had bumps until it was too late and I couldn’t remove that part. I was needing to get it in the mail right away. I won’t use that glue on the white part but it is fine for the colored kind. I swear there is always something!
I have made that “glue” mistake more than once! You’d think I would learn! I do love having the ability to position that first layer with glue but then I would reach for that glue again when in fact, I should’ve grabbed the Snail Adhesive! Live & Learn!
I have a feeling Lovely As a Tree stamp set will be retired come next catty!!! I just checked as far back as I could in my old catalogs. It was in the 2006-2007 Idea Book!!! So it’s been around for at least 10 YEARS!!
