Sentimental Christmas 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) is perfect for Card Sketch #10! It also has pages that would be perfect for scrapbooking but if you don’t scrapbook, cut those pages and use them too. With every purchase of this DSP, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3.00 to this year’s Product Giveback to benefit children’s literacy programs.
Getting Started
Card Sketch #10 is a perfect layout to showcase the Sentimental Christmas 12″ x 12″ DSP (see below). This DSP is also part of the Sentimental Christmas Suite Collection. You can purchase each item separately BUT if you purchase the suite, Stampin’ Up! will still donate $3.00! I used this DSP for my Card Sketch #4 projects, which you can click HERE to see them. To see ALL suite products, click HERE or view on pages 28-29 in the September-December 2024 Mini Catalog (Holiday Catalog).
I am using the Sentimental Wishes Cling Stamp Set for my sentiments, which by the way also coordinates with this DSP. You can buy this stamp set alone or bundle it with the coordinating dies, Sentimental Wishes Bundle, and save 10%. I splurged and bought the entire suite.
Basic Card
When you have pretty patterned paper, let it do the work for you! You’ll find that there is not much difference between my BASIC, STEPPED UP, AND AVID cards, so let me give you the main instructions for all three. For my BASIC card, I used Basic White for the card base. TIP: Always make sure your pattern is going in the direction you need it to go before cutting!
- Basic White card base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ | scored at 4-1/4″
- Designer Series Panel: 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
- Refer to Card Sketch #10 for other measurements
Adhere the DSP to card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Use 12″ of White Baker’s Twine to make bow (not need to tie it) and secure it with Scotch Tape. Stamp sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black on the Basic White sentiment label and adhere to the dovetailed banner, which is Pretty Peacock cardstock. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the labels over the White Baker’s Twine. NOTICE: The card base is Pretty Peacock in the image below.
Stepped Up Card
For my STEPPED UP card I simply changed the card base to Pretty Peacock and added coordinating embellishments from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack. This pack of embellishments also include the colors: Berry Burst, Blueberry Bushel, and Lemon Lime Twist. So pretty!
TIP: Place embellishments onto card base and not on the sentiment label if mailing. It’s popped up and you don’t want to add more thickness to your card. If you do though, use extra postage (non-machineable) so it doesn’t get fed through the hoppers and jam them up and ruin your card.
Avid Card
I used the Timber 3D Embossing Folder to add some dimension to the Pretty Peacock dovetailed banner. I love anything with woodgrain. Speaking of dimension, look at the embossed sentiment! I LOVE EMBOSSING! Using my stamping tool, I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock then stamped again using VersaMark. I applied Clear Embossing Powder and set it with my Heat Tool. Whether you Dry or Heat Emboss or both, it really adds that extra something special to any project!
More Card Sketch #10 Cards
The first card came about from a mistake but I felt like there was enough Holly Leaf on the dovetailed banner to make it into a Christmas card. I added Red & White Baker’s Twine and some of those Pretty Peacock embellishments. I absolutely LOVE the ribbon and holly pattern! I didn’t feel the need to add Baker’s Twine or embellishments. BUT . . .
I added some glitter to all the exposed berries with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen! Y’all know I LOVE THAT STUFF! It adds shimmer and shine to my Christmas card to make it even more festive! I hope you like my cards and feel inspired to get creating!
