A Little Bit Festive 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper has festive paper, card fronts and die cuts for quick accents to add to any holiday project. It has 6 sheets of patterned paper: 1 each of 3 double-sides designs and 1 each of 3 single-sided die-cut designs, which includes gold foil accents. This DSP is a fun way to add color and design to your projects! But today I’m using the one patterned paper design with all the tree shapes as the focal point of Card Sketch #13.
Getting Started
It helps to use a card sketch to get things started. Card Sketch #13 is a bit different because there is some cardstock tearing involved. I’ve yet to use the NEW Garden Green 12″ x 12″ Two-Tone Cardstock so this layout is perfect. I used Basic White cardstock for my card base, cut at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ for the fold line. You could also use Garden Green for the card base.
This cardstock is two-tone meaning one side is the full-strength color and the other side is a lighter version of the color. The ultra-smooth surface makes it an ideal paper for stamping, giving you clean, crisp images. Unlike our solid cardstock that is dyed all the way through, this has an inner white color when you tear it.
Putting it Together
When adhering the patterned paper to the card front, use Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This allows for movability and this is why I use it mostly when making cards. TIP: Take a bone folder and smooth the glue inward making sure everything is smooth on the card front. You don’t want glue seeping out from underneath so that’s why I suggest going inward when smoothing things out.
I cut a 1-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ strip from the Two-Tone Garden Green DSP for my torn strips. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what I was doing here! LOL! I just went with it. After I adhered these to the card front, I decided to add Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to add some shimmer and shine! It certainly made it much more festive!
I wanted to add a panel of the Two-Tone Garden Green, cut at 1-3/4″ x 2-1/4″, to back the sentiment label. TIP: Tear the bottom before adhering the sentiment label to it. Using Greetings of the Season Photopolymer Stamp Set, I stamped Love & Joy in Garden Green onto the Basic White sentiment label and adhered it to the Two-Tone cardstock, with the darker side showing. Notice it received some Clear Wink of Stella around the sentiment label? I could not resist!!

Then to finish my festive card, I wrapped some white Baker’s Twine around the sentiment label and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used some retired pearls but Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels would work wonderfully as well! As always, you can make a card basic, stepped up, or avid. Dress it up or don’t. That’s the beauty of card making! You decide!
