Adventure Bound Birthday Card & Missed MOJO Challenge!

I made this “adventurous” birthday card for my son-in-law, Jon, whose birthday was this past February 24th. I was inspired by a sketch (see below) challenge at MOJO Monday’s so I got busy! For some reason I thought I had until this past Monday to upload it onto their site, but NO! I don’t know what I was thinking since they ALWAYS come out with a new challenge on Monday’s!! Duh! This would have been the very first time for me to have participated in a MOJO Monday’s challenge. But no problem, I made a pretty cool birthday card for Jon and he loved it! Check it out!

This is the sketch . . .

My supply list will not list the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack (4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″) as it’s retired. Please check out Stampin’ Up!’s other DSP papers and DSP paper stacks to accomplish this card layout! The Designer Neutrals Collection buttons have been updated with newer style buttons so I have those listed in the supply list. Just remember, you can take this sketch and have fun making your own card! Be sure to check out MOJO Monday’s blogspot and all the participants that upload their own SWEET CREATIONS!

By the way, the Tin of Cards Photopolymer Stamp Set also coordinates with the Tin of Cards Project Kit that is on this week’s Weekly Deals!! Be sure to check it out! Also view a YouTube video over on my So Inking Sweet FaceBook page showcasing the Tin of Cards Project Kit!

A Thank You Card with FMS 220 Challenge!

I’m just flying by the seat of my pants here to meet the deadline for this card sketch challenge! I needed Thank You card to send to someone for a Christmas gift that my husband and I received for Christmas. I know, I’m a bit behind on this endeavor but better late than never! I hope you notice the different sized pearls for the different sized little flowers. I hope you DON’T notice the little bit of Cherry Cobbler ink from my fingers on the side of my card! LOL! It never fails when I use that color, I get it on my fingers. It was from placing the pearls on the card and I knew better than not to clean my fingers before continuing on to photograph my card. It’s just a clean and simple card following the card sketch challenge. Perhaps my sentiment should’ve been a bit smaller. I don’t know . . . but here it is! Enjoy and “Thank You” for stopping by!

2016.1.25 Thank You Card FMS220

I used the Botanicals For You CM (Clear Mount) from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure that I got for FREE when I spent $50 dollars on Stampin’ Up! products. It’s a SWEET DEAL for sure!!

Here are the supplies I used to make this quick Thank You card!

A Colorful Thank You with PPA275

I have never taken an art class. I have never said that I was artistic. With that being said, I do try to tap into some creativity using card challenges! Pals Paper Arts has a color challenge using the colors Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, and Tangelo Twist! I LOVE these bright, cheerful, and even playful colors! I needed a Thank You card so this is what I came up with implementing these colors.

It’s very simple yet this was my second card. Did I get it perfect? NOPE! My first card, I stamped the sentiment in the middle then I decided to stamp the bottom as you see it here. Then my sentiment was too low. My second attempt, I decided to do the playful border on the top and bottom. I didn’t get the top border exactly perfect. Then I stamped the sentiment last. I went with it! LOL! Is it a masterpiece? No. What counts is that I am able to participate in this color challenge! 🙂

Here is the Pals Paper Arts color challenge . . .

FYI: I used Stampin’ Write Markers to color the sentiment Thank You to have the three colors. After I colored the letters, I then “huffed” upon the letters to allow the ink to become moist again before stamping.

Here are the supplies that I used to make my card . . .

Lots of Joy with FMS212

It’s time for another card challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! This is a layout sketch by Narelle who is part of the “Clean Team”. I kept my card pretty clean! I hope you can tell that I trimmed my “plaid” tree and gave it a base mount on Crumb Cake cardstock. I started to add some embellishments but I want you to know that you don’t need A LOT to make a nice card to give to someone. It may seem that I have a lot of supplies listed but be sure to read my post so you’ll know that you DON’T need everything that I used to make my card. Although I would love for you to buy it all, and buy it from me . . . I mainly want to know that you, too, can enjoy making cards without spending a lot. It takes time to build your supplies and tools. I hope you like my Christmas card! It’s nothing flashy but it’s just one more way I can get more use from the Merry Moments DSP that I have on hand. 🙂

Please excuse the tinting you see on one side of my photo! I must get better about taking my photos as well as have a better way or place to take my photos. I’m new to all this so please bear with me!

Here is the layout sketch by Freshly Made Sketches . . .

I realize that a my card isn’t exactly like the sketch but it did provide me with a starting place for my creativity. I like to try to keep true to the sketch but it just didn’t work out that way.

If you go back and look at my posts on September 21 and October 5, you’ll see that I’ve used Lots of Joy Stamp Set and the Merry Moments DSP once before AND both with FMS sketches! You could also use the Merry Christmas sentiment from that set but I chose to use a sentiment from the Versatile Christmas Stamp Set from the Holiday Catalog. Also notice that the Tree Punch coordinates with the Lots of Joy Stamp Set! LOVE IT! 🙂

Here are my previous cards . . .

FYI: Although I used the Squares Collection Framelits Die along with my Big Shot, you can cut the square pieces yourself.

Retired but Not Forgotten! Color Challenge PP270!

I haven’t participate with the Paper Players since 2012! I’m so excited about sharing my card today that meets their challenge of colors: Black + White + Silver or Gold plus one Color of my choice! I chose Silver and Poppy Parade (retired card stock). I made this card for my hubby whom I love so dearly! He is the BEST HUSBAND and my MY BEST FRIEND, whom I love with all my heart and soul! I wanted my card to have some elegance and I think I achieved it.

My title “Retired but Not Forgotten!” has to do with the fact that I used some items that are now retired from Stampin’ Up! BUT you can easily tweak this layout and colors to make it your own! This could also be used as a Valentine’s card or even a Wedding card. I will include “My Recipe” below but first check out the color challenge from the Paper Players!

My Recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Punch Potpourri, Something to Celebrate (both retired Hostess Sets)
  • Card Stock: Basic Black, Poppy Parade, Paperbilities Special Occasion (non SU – sorry!)
  • Ink Colors: StazOn Jet Black
  • Accessories: 3/8″ Whisper Taffeta Ribbon (retired)
  • Tools: Full Heart Punch (retired), Stamp-a-ma-jig, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I used cardstock from Special Occasions that has some elegance to it. The silvery gray paper has a pin-striping affect to it to add some dimension to the bottom half of my card as well as the top heart. I popped the hearts with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the formal look of my card! How about you?

I would love to hear from you! What do you think my card today? Do you think you could replicate it in some way? I bet you can because everyone has a bit of creativity within themselves! I find my inner creativity with the help of card challenges that helps me with layouts and/or color combinations! Like this one from the Paper Player!

Thinking of You! PPA274 & SUO135 & Tuesday’s Weekly Deals

Remember this stamp set from my post back on September 28th? This stamp set is SO versatile! Sheltering Tree, a photopolymer stamp set, can be used for ALL four seasons and many occasions! The possibilities of use for each of the stamps in this set is endless! I can easily say this is one of my favorites!! Go back and check out my card on 9.28.2015 and check out today’s card! You can be sure that I’ll be using this stamp set again and again!

I made my brother, Markus, a card today that I’m entering into two challenges. I love all three of my brothers but Markus is that “special” brother who truly needs to know how much I love him, always! So I made today’s card with him in mind and it’s getting mailed today! I know it will brighten his day immensely when he receive it in the mail!

My first card challenge is a color challenge with Pals Paper Arts! Check out these colors for this challenge! LOVE ’em! Notice in my card how the over lapping of Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral makes an orange color? It actually looks like I used four colors on my card! I entered two challenges back in 2012 with Pals Paper Arts. I plan on participating with Pals Paper Arts much more in the future! It’s a great card challenge site with designers that are just over the top with talent!

Also check out SU-Only Challenges Web site! It’s a card challenge site that is totally Stampin’ Up! as you are only allowed to use SU products! I’m certainly okay about that aspect! My card is entered into SUO Challenge #135 – Fall Fun! It’s been a LONG time since I participated with SUO, 2012! Back in March 2012 I made Top 3 in a “Think Spring” challenge! I made a card for my daughter who was getting married. You can see it below! 🙂

I truly have NOT been on the band wagon entering challenges for several years. Since I finally created my own Website/Blog, I’ve been A LOT better about it. I’m not uber talented but I enjoy just participating with color and layout challenges! It helps me to be more creative!!

FYI:  In the Annual Catalog, p.89., it suggests clear blocks: a, b, e, h to be used with the Sheltering Tree Photopolymer Stamp Set. In reality you can use just the Clear Block E if you are just starting out! Some people may feel that using a large clear block with little stamps may not feel right but it can be done. Just thought I would point that out to you!

Joy to You! with FMS 211

Last week while I was uploading my card for Freshly Made Sketches, I was in a hurry to make the deadline. Not only did I get the challenge number wrong in my post title, the Linkup closed while I was uploading! It seems when I try to get something done in a hurry, mistakes can and will occur! LOL! But I loved my card and I loved that sketch from last week!

Here is my card for this weeks challenge, and yes, once again time is of the essence! But I’ll make it this time. Perhaps I should not wait until Monday to get my card made! Did you notice that I didn’t use a stamp set or ink pad on my card?

Here is the Freshly Made Sketch . . .

FMS Final 211-001

I actually “fussy cut” my poinsettia’s from Home for Christmas DSP! LOVE that paper! It’s in the Holiday Catalog on p. 9! I used Merry Moments DSP from the Annual catalog for the base, p. 143. I also used my Wonderful Wreath Framelits for the first time. I think it really made my card! What do you think? I hope you love my Christmas card!

TIP: I use SU’s NEW Fine-Tip Glue Pen for intricate glueing i.e. my word JOY. I wouldn’t use anything else to do this job! Also you can’t beat SU’s Paper Snips for “fussy cutting”!

Here are my supplies that I used . . .

I would love to hear from you! Please leave me a comment!

Truly Thankful with FMS201 & PP269!

I truly am thankful for a lot in my life! I am blessed in so many ways. One of my blessings is being able to have a hobby that I love to do and share! I’m thankful that I also have a bit a background in technology that allowed me to build my very own Web site this fall. I don’t know what took me so long! Most of all I am blessed and thankful for my husband, my best friend, and partner in life for nearly 30 years! He has always supported me and understands how much I love doing this paper crafting thing that I do! Well I had better get on with sharing my card to day!

My card today is for two challenges!

I kept it simple as I LOVE simple! It also allows you to see that you too can make this type of card! I used my September’s Paper Pumpkin Kit’s Photopolymer Stamps and even the Stampin’ Spot that is Cajun Craze. You can use other small stamps to do this type of card and any color! Oh, and I love my brand new Hardwood Background Stamp Set (#133035)! It’s SWEET!! 🙂

Here is the layout from Freshly Made Sketches . . . I actually missed the deadline! I was in the process of uploading when the Linkup closed! I took the time to do the table below for the items I used knowing I was under the wire! I’m still thankful for the sketch! I LOVE IT!
